TERRIBLE experience! The place looked nice and quaint at a glance, which is why my girlfriend and I both agreed to try it. There were no other customers at the time, at least none that we could see in the bistro area of the restaurant, while the place night next to them was packed, we thought we'd give this joint a chance but later came to discover why the place was so deserted- This guy comes out. His face already looked mean. We had questions on the menu and the guy just seem aggravated by our questions and even displayed a certain air of racism towards my anglo female companion. Guess he must not like gringos... I'm Mexican so I did all the talking. I was a frog's hair from asking this guy if our presenve there was a drag to him or something, as we simply could not explain his attiture towards us as patrons... The menus lacked a description of the ingredients or presentation of the dishes, so I asked the gentleman for a description. Since I had to translate for my friend what was in the dish that interested her, I could not catch all of the ingretients mentioned the first time around, so when asked the waiter to list them for me a second time, this dude was like (in a Spanish equivalent): "Look, I already told you... the dish has this, this and that!" My friend and I just looked at each other like, What's this guy's problem?! - We were about to say "screw this!" and jump over the fence to the competition next door, which seemed to have more satisfied customers and a whole lot more of them, but decided to just be cool customers and just take it... We ordered our food, which took unreasonably long, given the number of tables that actually had any people in them, not to mention it was served luke warm rather than hot. - My plate had shrimp and my frient's plate had poultry. The taste was okay, but the food I ordered gave me a major indigestion, cold sweats and the runs for at least a couple of days. Not sure if this happened because there was something wrong with the shrimp, or if a nice "secret ingredient" was deliberately planted in the food by this most unpleasant guy, to sort of "teach us a lesson" for actually stopping by... To a Mazatlan native like myself, showing my American girlfriend a bit of my native town and my roots, this place was nothing more than an utter embarrasment!! In short, I would recomment to anyone reading this, to stay the hell away!! There are too many other good places in Maz to be taking attitude from locals having a bad day... In stead, I would stronlgy recommend La Costa Marinera, but most importantly, La Casa Country, where not only was the food to die for and very reasonably priced, we were treated like royality!...

It has been a while since I was treated this poorly. The second star is there because their musicians were pretty good. I expected to have a good time here with my sister that came to visit from Mexico City, and she picked the place because a mutual friend had suggestes us both the guava pie from Pedro & Lola, so I had to oblige.

We were definitely dissappointed. The restaurant is very foreigner oriented from the get-go, and had a completely american/canadian crowd outdoors. But from the moment we arrived, the host was very rude towards us, and treated my sister and me with the bare minimum of respect. I suspected they were not used to have local customers, but never imagined how much vitrol you can actually get there just by asking if they had their famous dessert.

Apparently they no longer prepare it, so at least I have no other reasons to be there anymore.

TL;DR Be wero or be warned: their service and attitude towards you will be...

The food is great, have eaten there a few times however their pork shank tasted bad. Normally I don’t write reviews unless i feel It is necessary, well tonight it was. My bill was around 860.00 Pesos. As usual when using taxis, small Ills are needed. I gave the waiter 1500.00 Pesos as a 20% tip would be over 1000.00 Pesos and I only had 500.00 bills; I asked for change.... my wife and I discussed this and she saw me give him three 500.00 peso bills. He returned with change from a 1000.00 Pesos. When I mentioned I gave him 1500 and asked for Change he said he will Check. He Came back and said I gave him a big bill and a Small bill. I showed him My wallet, I just came From the bank and only had 500.00 bills. He just shrugged his shoulders and wouldn’t budge. Bottom line, I lost Out on over 500.00 Pesos. I took the change He did give me And Donated It To the first person I could. COUNt YOUR PESOS CAREFULLY.... Great scam...

We came here after having dinner at Topolo’s. Maybe it was wishful thinking to expect Pedro y Lola’s could make a margarita anywhere close to what we had with dinner at Topolo’s. It certainly turned out to be nothing even close. The margaritas here tasted awful. When we shared our discontent with both the waiter and the bartender, they looked at us without concern and did nothing to try to rectify the situation. We will never return. What a disappointment. There is so much to love about Plaza Machado. Pedro y Lola’s is not one of them!

Is a must even for a drink. There mezcalita Pedro y Lola was delicious. It was nice to relax and take in the Plazuela Machado in old town. It’s 2 blocks from Pino Suarez market and in a super chic park of town. It’s a park as well
