JJ´s Cantina is not just a great place to enjoy fantastic music but great food... I can say, any day is a good day to enjoy a delicious breakfast at JJ's Cantina THE ORIGINAL, which opens at 8 in the morning. Although the menu isn't too extensive, each option is delightful. Barbara Lounsbury, Clarence Jackson, and I enjoyed the various choices and tried a bit of everything.

Clarence ordered a Shrimp and Avocado Omelette: A 3-egg omelette stuffed with locally caught shrimp and Mexican cheese, topped with 'pico de gallo' and fresh avocado, served with breakfast potatoes and seasonal fruit.

Barb ordered the 'Hangover Special': 3 eggs, chorizo, bacon, breakfast potatoes, beans, and locally made flour tortillas.

And as for myself, the only Mexican in the group, I ordered the 'Gringo Breakfast': 2 eggs, 2 pancakes, crispy bacon, sourdough toast, and seasonal fruit.

I also ordered a jalapeño margarita, which is truly a delicious and unique experience. A great but unique gastronomic adventure!

Of Course our friend Waylon Michael Dillon was there always paying attention to our needs, was just incredible!

A real fine place to have a few drinks and fall down the steep, small, well lit stairs that are all made of soft concrete. Be sure to bring the kids because lots’ old local Mexicans like to hang out here, drink and stare at your little children. Parking is fantastic and allows you to cram your nice car into spots where others can easily ding your doors, break into the car (Did I mention the fantastic lighting that illuminates their paved parking lot..yes paved with huge pot holes, rocks, sharp shells and sand which really keeps your tires nice, clean and help them last longer. Oh and do not forget to use the restrooms, which are state of the art trench's on the wall with the finest PVC tubing and artfully drilled holes to allow fresh, clean water to keep them smelling fine! If you got to let loose, be sure to use their stalls with a small curtain and bucket full of used TP, mmm, makes you want to have some of the fresh greasy French fries that are nice, soft, and springy almost like you just cut them yourself and poured oil over them, just like homemade! And do not forget to visit the beach here, which is lined with coral as sharp as a razor, very little sand, and a nice supply of flies from the dead fish in the harbor, ooww the nice brease after a $3 corona...

Love what they've done with the place!! Food and Service were great... BUT UPDATE 4/18/23: JJ's management quickly reached out to address our concerns. Although the transaction showed "pending" for the $94.48, it did post for the actual card bill price of $78.43. A big thank you to JJ's management for reaching out and clarifying. Once again...Service, Food and the band were awesome!!! We definitely love the place!!!

One word of caution...post margarita realizations ;) When paying with Visa...not sure where the 20% up-charge came from. Bill was Pesos: 1341 (cash $74.32), Visa 1415 ($78.43 - w/expected additional card charge @5.5 %). However, when it hit our card the amount was $94.48 (additional 20%). Someone mentioned maybe a resort type fee...but unsure as we did not see this broken out on the bill. We also left a 20% tip separately in cash. Be...

Always staying at resorts I just recently discovered this place. Feels a little sketchy to get here at night as there arent any street lights or paved roads but it's well worth a visit. The place is cozy but well kept with a little kitchen inside. Food & drinks are reasonably priced. Bar tender is fast but confused me with someone else when it came time to leave. Also I know the stigma around Mexican restaurant and foods and despite that I had a few sanitation concerns regarding the kitchen.

JJ's spent a year remodeling adding all kinds of new things but not taking away any of the cool features of the place. Awesome bands playing during the day on a nice sized stage which is such a welcome change from most other places. Their forever motto is "You haven't been to Rocky Point if you haven't been to JJ's". I didn't see the attraction of this place at all, but it's now on my top 10 things to do when I have visitors. The dirt road getting there is awful but worth it!
