Excellent choice for upscale Mexican meat dishes and cocktails.
Came here for dinner on our second day in town. Compared to its neighboring spots, the place had more refined ambiance, and while I’m not certain if they were affiliated with the restaurant, a couple of musicians playing by the entrance added a lively, welcoming touch.
Our meal started off with some warm chips, pico de Gallo, and some salsas. A word of caution, though: both the red and green salsas were intensely spicy. Next, we got warm taco wraps, which we used to build our own. Personally, I really enjoyed topping them with refried beans, pico de Gallo, and an array of meats from the two trays we ordered. Every meat option was delicious, but my favorites were the short ribs, fried shrimp, and the marinated pork.
As for the cocktails, most of them came in huge portions, though some were heavy on the ice. The piña colada and margarita were different from the usual—less sweet and fruity, yet still refreshing. My favorite was the Carajillo de Horchata, a perfectly balanced blend of horchata and espresso, free from any...
Read moreMy first impression of the place I wasn't sure. Some of the places that we visit when we step across the border into Mexico do not always seem to be the greatest on the outside. Although when you experience the hospitality and the quality of service that you receive it changes the whole mindset of the place that you're visiting. The place was great the service was wonderful. The food that we received was the highest quality. The interior decorations was that of a Hispanic Heritage Ranch. The pictures on the wall we're very nice and we're of the same. They also had part of the restaurant set up as a conference area. I'm sure for large groups or company dinners. I would recommend this place for a family also. That being I did take my children there and they had a full children's menu. With the little color paper and the crayons that they could use. As you can see that my overall assessment of the restaurant was wonderful and if you have the opportunity go...
Read moreDishonest. We had our wedding reception in El Herradero. They had some very nice equipales chairs which they said would be in the room for our reception. They did not have those chairs in the room at the reception. The example meal they served when we were reserving the room were excellent. The actual meals served at the reception were different and inferior. For example, the more expensive sea food items were missing. They did not need to cheat us. It was our wedding reception, they would have made a good profit even if they had treated us right. As it is, they made a better profit by cheating us. Also the waitresses confided in us that if we gave the tip the the cashier they the owners would keep the tips. Therefore we tipped the...
