La Xoma — Restaurant in State of Mexico

The owner of this humble and cute Pulque restaurant/bar, Israel, is supremely knowledgeable and welcoming. He's excellent at making a sales pitch without coming across as a salesman. His service alone GUARANTEES that I'll be back, and the Pulque is EXCELLENT on top of that!!!

They use ingredients from their garden that he's more than happy to show you, and you can taste the authenticity, so refreshing!

We stopped by because a local recommended it. I only intended to get pulque to go, and head out. Expected to be there 5 minutes tops. We ended up staying for 2 hours!!!

And get this. I casually asked "is there karaoke around here?" He says "we'll set it up for you here, sing for us please!" How could a resist the invitation?

The worst place we’ve ever been to. We were rushed to order, weren’t given a chance to look over the menu & expected to order right away. We ordered coffee & guacamole as starters—did not receive any food or update for 45 minutes! We were starving after the pyramids!! The staff was just standing there on their phones, we were about to just leave entirely. Also, we were the ONLY CUSTOMERS! When the food arrived, it was freezing cold & honestly the worst food I have ever had. The meat was disgusting, frijoles so salty, sopes burnt, rice no flavor, even the salsa & guacamole were gross. No fue mucho de mi agrado, servicio buffet, el sazón de la comida a mi gusto, no fue bueno, el servicio tampoco, no había platós, había que esperar a que los lavaran, después se despertaron y solo dijeron, pueden utilizar los platos de la fruta, se terminaron los platos de la fruta y seguían sin llegar los otros platos, es un restaurante donde vende pulque y curados, nunca nos ofrecieron la carta de los pulques o los curados, había también carta para alimentos, tampoco nos ofrecieron la carta ( íbamos en grupo, compañeros de clase, conocían a algunos de mis compañeros, a ellos solo les ofrecieron las cartas de los pulques y la de los alimentos,nunca nos mencionaron, que se podía consumir así, obvio con los costos ya designados) No gusto, ni el ambiente 😞 y costo elevado del buffet para lo...
