This is such a great classic place to dine at when in Marrakesh. It’s high level dining, and the prices reflect that. Cocktails start at €20 each, starters surely aren’t cheap, and main dishes tend to start at a minimum of €50 - quite steep! The place itself is amazing. The restaurant itself, is incredibly beautiful - full of greenery, plants, and incredible lighting which makes it seem a little bit darker, with black colors used to decorate its interior. It really gives a full 100% Marrakesh vibe. But the best part has to be the music; contemporary house played by excellent DJs, through the restaurant’s great sound system is played throughout the entire night, and is really what makes this place what it is. You find yourself sitting down at your table with this incredible atmosphere, almost wanting to dance really - the music is great. The food is very good. Starters were of excellent quality and relatively surprising portions. Main dishes were equally as amazing. Our desert was a birthday cake as we were celebrating the birthday of one of the members at our table - it was incredibly good and served in this massive 1m tall glass. Never saw that before! Alcohol wise, wine choices are varied although expensive. The worst are the drinks, and this is why I give 3 stars. Me and my friend start with a Gin Fizz and a Long Island, both of which were completely lacking alcohol. We then proceeded to call the waiter, which got the drinks and brought them back, apparently now with alcohol. They were still the same. We kept complaining, and then the waiter arrived with shots which he poured in our drink. They didn’t make a difference - I’m sure they were water. Extremely disappointed by our drinks, we ordered 2 Negronis, once again emphasizing to insert alcohol. We received them, and once again, we were extremely disappointed. The Negronis only contained Campari, and no Gin or Vermouth whatsoever. We then proceeded to complain for the 10th time, always to the same waiter. He told us it was the Moroccan way. He got our drinks back and brought them with Gin. Therefore the Negroni was still lacking Vermouth, but at this point it was acceptable. What wasn’t acceptable, was the €20 charged per drinks. This was truly a terrible experience which completely ruined what was an amazing dinner in an amazing location. I really hope they sort out their ridiculous cocktail situation, as they are made for 10 year olds, and truly allow guests to enjoy what is otherwise a great restaurant with amazing music.
EDIT 12/4/23 I came back 2 days after my review to order a Negroni once again - same situation! It firstly arrived lacking alcohol, as per usual we asked for them to take it back, and we got a very slightly better version. We then proceeded to order a Gin Tonic, and it arrived without Gin. This place simply cannot serve alcohol, yet the drinks cost quite a bit. We asked the same regarding the Gin Tonic, and they arrived with just a slight version of Gin Tonic with little alcohol. Don’t know what to do...
Read moreI'm going to abandon the usual format since this was such an unusual dining experience.
We arrived and, despite making a reservation a couple of weeks before hand so we could celebrate my sister's birthday there, we were told our reservation was non-existent. We pulled out the email conversation with the person at the restaurant to prove it already existed they told us that they had given away our reservation; we asked why and they said that's just how it goes at Bo Zin.
We asked for another table and they said we could wait in the waiting area and order drinks and food and they would see about getting us a table when one was available. The staff then tried to get us to order food and drinks to the waiting area - we ordered only drinks and refused to order food until we got a table (seriously - what upmarket restaurant would make diners order food to the waiting area? It was literally a circular sofa in the entrance with only a coffee table). The staff then didn't find us a table for the next hour despite its repeatedly asking after it and seeing tables being vacated and occupied. After this we just got fed up and nabbed the next table that was vacated and told them we are taking that table which they accepted and we finally ordered our food.
The food arrived in drips and drabs over the next two hours however they brought some dishes twice and some dishes not at all. One of our party had allergies and somehow all the dishes they brought were the ones he could not eat.
After this we decided to just call it a day and settle up. And then the real kicker was that they overcharged us on the bill. The waiter of course could not resolve this and was rude so we called the manager who agreed to recheck the bill and a waiter came back with the wrong bill again and we had to speak to the manager again who had the bill recomputed again. No apologies, no comp.
TL;DR: this is probably the worst service you'll find in any restaurant. And I mean globally. I've never been so mistreated by...
Read moreBottom line; overpriced, small portions, poor service and the food isn’t great.
Overall poor experience. Despite the place being empty they tried to seat myself and my date at a table for two within 24” of another couple. I told them the table was unacceptable and despite the restaurant being 95% empty the hostess attempted to limit us to just a couple of tables for two in close proximity to other occupied tables. Eventually they did make available a table for four for my date and myself.
We then watched as the next three couples who arrived the hostess attempted to seat them at the same table for two I had turned down. Each couple refused to accept the table. How many times do you have to be told ‘no’ until you understand you are doing something wrong?!?!?!
I was told this place specializes in Mojitos. I had a Mojito; it was terrible.
They also have a 400% mark up over retail on their Moroccan wine.
The food was overpriced, small portions, and mediocre to good; certainly nothing special.
Avoid this place; it...
