Food waa decent. Owner appeared to be friendly at first. We asked for our driver to be seated and we would pay for his meal along with ours. Something happened and the driver ended up not being allowed to be seated by the owner. We did not realize it until we were done eating and leaving the restaurant, at which point our driver and the owner were arguing in the middle of the street. Apparently, the owner loves tourists but treats local Moroccans terribly. We asked our driver what happened, and then were approached by a dozen locals on the street who all expressed this sentiment about the owner. The owner came back and we asked to pay our bill, and all of a sudden he was not that happy guy anymore. Then he asked us, a party of 9, what we ordered to get us our bill. We started arguing because he said we ordered dishes we didn’t. Even with what we ordered, they didn’t bring the correct dishes but because of time, we ate it. After seeing he didnt let our driver eat at the restaurant after we specifically requested it, a bad local reputation as a rude owner, not getting our order right, then arguing over what we ordered because they don’t know how to keep track of it themselves, I can’t...
Read moreStopped by to have a lunch as we planned to drive from the very south to Fes that day- a quick and simple lunch was what we expected for this high-rating local restaurant. Very easy to find, and you can park your car in front of the place, which is a plus.
However, we were a bit disappointed with the food and service. The waiting time was very long compared with other restaurants- overall 30 minutes for a starter? The price for a standard tagine was almost the same price for a tagine for two persons in other restaurants. Omelette cheese was just a fried egg and the lamb prune tajine was way too salty. The juice we ordered was banana mixed orange, and they served orange purely in the end, which was fine. But later I found that the size of my glass was even smaller than the other customers who also ordered juice- couldn’t understand.
The most confusing part was the forced laugh of the owner. It was so loud and so unreal. Perhaps the intention was good that he wanna show hospitality, but in reality it really showed us the other way around. Shtick for real.
The desert and the tea in the end was on the house, and perhaps that’s bring more good comments and...
Read moreWe stopped by here for a bite to eat coming from Merzouga to Fes. After seeing all the positive reviews, and that it was busy we figured it was a good choice. My wife ordered kefta kebabs which were good. I ordered the chicken skewers but instead was served rotisserie chicken. I had seen the rotisserie outside going around (for who knows how long) but against my better judgement I decided to eat it and not send it back. It was dry as leather.
The next morning I woke up with the worst food poisoning of my life, and my wife who had a few bites did as well. Thankfully I brought antibiotics with me.
The owner is very nice and lovely, I would skip out on the chicken and stick with the...
