We booked 2 nights at Riad Dalia. On the first night we were the only guests in the riad. The room we were allocated was fine and the building is really authentic and quite beautiful with all of the original features. However the entire riad needs a lot of tender loving care and a lot of money spending on it. Many of the floor tiles were loose and the whole place needs repairing and a deep clean. The roof terrace, although a nice space was filthy and we had to wash the seats before we could sit on them. The real issue was however the noise from the building work taking place on the external wall of the riad. This began at 10.30pm. We had hammering against the wall which abutted the head of our bed and it was impossible to sleep. We complained and the owner said there was nothing he could do. He then offered a room at his other riad, Riad La Perla. I asked if this was of the same standard and he stated it was better. I got dressed and was marched for 10 minutes through the medina to have a look. It was absolutely not of the same standard and I refused to accept it. We were given a room on the opposite side of the Riad.Dalia for that night. The owner stated that we could not have this room on the second night as they were fully booked but that the building work taking place was only for that one night. I was woken up at 6am when the hammering started again! I went and spoke with the receptionist and asked him the clarify when the work would be finished, he went and asked the builders who of course confirmed that the work would be continuing that day and night. It seems I was lied to by the owner and so I called the company I had booked the riad through and they relocated us for the second night. We packed our stuff and when I asked if we could have our breakfast, which was included in the room rate, the receptionist responded with "I will give you breakfast because I am kind even though you have complained". Needless to say I told him to stick his breakfast and left. The owner and staff at this place have no clue about good hospitality or good customer service and they also need to learn the meaning of clean. There are many riads in Tetouan, I suggest you find an alternative...
Read moreRiad Dalia is a traditional Moroccan riad of 7 rooms and suits. Magnificent house-palace of the 18th century belonged to Dfouf family. In 1930s housed Dutch consul in Spanish Morocco. Riad is located in the historic center of Tetouan, Medina, a city that has been proclaimed the cultural heritage of UNESCO in 1997. Very easy to find (on square Ousaa , near the tourist police post). Patio of the house is open space used as a dining room and is surrounded by 4 columns that support the second floor. Suite I had was on 3rd floor accessible by steep steps. Room is huge with very high ceiling, and red light entering the room through the red stained windows, window facing the Royal palace, to the west, and 2 windows to the east terrace. Wonderful light during the day. Breakfast was very good, traditional, with fresh squeezed orange juice, omelet with local cheese (jben beldi), olives and olive oil, bread, honey and jam, and coffee or tea. Thanks specially to Redouane who took care of me during my stay. All was perfect and authentic, wonderful view to the souk and palace from the window, fresh air 3 terraces offers 360deg view of Tetouan. Definitely would be back there for my next stay!
Its a old building and that is why you should not expect super modern furniture or looking to every corner to find it super clean. Its very well maintained, but some reparation work should be done. Also it could be difficult for some to communicate with the staff in English as they are not so skilled in this language. Arabic sure, and Spanish will be fine and French too. Except of this -...
Read moreThe place is great an old 150 years traditional house with lots of history to tell but unfortunately covered with unprofessional mistakes from DINA who seems that she doesn't appreciate her job she tried to fool me more than once by offering much higher price of I found online telling me that only the suite is available and other rooms are full which had nothing to do with reality cuz I noticed during my period of staying that rooms were empty but thanks God I wasn't scammed by the price cuz I paid to the right person who was honest with me. I presented my Moroccan ID not the French one cuz I'm home "Morocco" so the service was unbelievably bad even the breakfast presented to us was bland and I'm not exaggerating when saying we were served smaller cups of juice tiny amount of cheese to the point I just refused to consume it without mentioning the ingredients that are the lowest quality you can get which shows a very dangerous behavior of non caring about the guests hot water wasn't available the bathroom was in an awful way to mention that the guy called RIDWAN and the room service lady were so sweet with us and extremely helpful though RIDWAN didn't try to fix the shower issue I can call this experience a nightmare I'm not returning again and I'm spreading the word so I'll make sure no one will visit the place again till your service...
