Dhow — Restaurant in Maputo

Excellent cafe and restaurant in Maputo with an incredible view of the water. You must visit!! The food and coffee was exceptional, and the waiter was attentive and friendly. Let me explain the missing stars from my score: 4 stars for service is because the car park is terrible and i ground the bottom of my car getting out. Nothing to do with the internal customer service, but if they want me to keep coming back then the parking needs to better than a patch of sand next to their place.

3 stars for atmosphere: this might be a little harsh, and could have been 4 stars, but the music was too loud and too intense for a lazy coffee at 3pm in the afternoon. At night, yes. I can see the music being an important part of the ambiance. But it didn’t fit when we were there.

This restaurant really is a hidden gem in the upper section (Alta) of the city of Maputo. There is a wonderful atmosphere that is fun, relaxing and very artistic. The view is great and there is a wonderful menu to select from. The entrance can be tricky to navigate to, as the local Google maps of this area don't take into account a large military area which has cordoned off a large number of roads in the area. Your best bet, is to navigate to the museum of natural history, and then to reroute to Dhow Restaurant. This gives a more effective route option. Dhow offers what is quite possibly the Best Atmosphere and design of any Restaurant in Mozambique, offering an excellent view of Down Town Maputo. The Cocktails and Starters were very Enjoyable, However Our main meals whilst decent couldn't Justify the expense for what we received, although of course, we did not try all they have to offer. the only let down we experienced was the service, which while not poor was more typical of the slow and sometimes forgetful service found in Mozambique,
