I recently visited Francesco, and unfortunately, my experience left me quite disappointed not only because of the food, but more so due to the attitude I encountered from the owner.
I ordered the lamb shank, which unexpectedly had a strong taste of cinnamon something I feel should be clearly mentioned on the menu, especially considering that some people may have allergies or dietary restrictions. My friend had a pizza which, while presented decently, was quite dry and topped with mushroom that seemed just placed on top rather than being baked into the pizza itself.
When the owner approached me for feedback, I shared my thoughts respectfully that it would be more considerate to mention certain ingredients like cinnamon, and that the pizza could be improved. Her response, however, was shocking. She dismissed my comments by saying she wasn’t going to change anything, and then proceeded to say, “Okay, I understand, so for you local people, I’ll change it.”
That statement felt incredibly offensive, belittling, and borderline discriminatory. Using the term “local” in that tone and context came across as dismissive and condescending as if my opinion only matters because I’m from here, not because I’m a paying customer who gave honest feedback. It made me wonder if our race or background played a role in how we were treated, and that alone is very disappointing in 2025.
Feedback should be welcomed, not tolerated with passive-aggression. I sincerely hope the owner reflects on how she engages with her customers especially local ones because respect and hospitality should be at the heart of any...
Read moreMy family and I went for dinner last week. The outside area was full and everyone seemed to be in a good mood. The chef, Francesco, came to our table to list the specials for the night and answer our questions about the dishes. The starters were good. I had a salmon salad starter and it was amazing, fresh and flavourful. I had the sole which was very disappointing. It was dry and lacking flavour completely. Francesco brought out another one and it was way better. Others on the table who also had the sole said theirs wasn't as good as my second one. Consistency with the sole is needed. Otherwise the rest of the meals were excellent. I missed out on desert but they did sound good. I would return to this restaurant. It has a lovely ambience and friendly staff. Keen to try out more dishes...
