Visited Emilio's to try the food, based on previously good reviews. I'm very allergic to wheat, so my husband called before we left the house and asked if Emilio's had any gluten-free options for food. They told him they had gluten-free pasta. I was excited. My daughter loves pizza, so I wanted to let her try the pizza and I would try the pasta. The atmosphere is cute, the garden is nice. The staff were friendly and repeatedly confirmed that I was getting gluten-free pasta. We shared the mixed charcuterie and cheese board first, and that was lovely. Then, our food came out, and the pasta was just the home-made wheat pasta from their menu. My husband took the dish back to the kitchen and asked if it was gluten-free and they said "Oh yeah, definitely." Then he said, "do you know what gluten-free means?" And the staff and chef said "yeah, we don't add gluten to the pasta." Then my husband asked, "What do you make the pasta with?" They said, "Wheat flour, egg, etc." Slaps forehead. My husband educated the staff and chef on what "gluten" is and how when someone says they have an allergy to "maida/atta ko pitho" aka WHEAT - the staff has to take it seriously. We had already explained that I get really sick eating wheat of any kind. So it was a complete disaster with the food. But the cause was just that there was no education about it. However, I ordered a ceasar salad as a replacement and the chef put BREAD in the salad. I was stunned. And frustrated. They remade it again without bread (because I get sick if wheat touches my food) and just some leaves with a few pieces of parmesan and dressing cost 975 nrs. Like What?! The salad was ridiculously overpriced. The meat/cheese board was fine for the price and I appreciate that they make everything in house. And the staff were very sweet to us and our little daughter. Overall, it was fine experience except that they didn't listen to us or take my allergy seriously, which is why I give...

I sat down in the drizzle of Kathmanduâs monsoon, mosquitoes humming like background noise in a noir film. At another place, it wouldâve been a deal breaker. Here? They had mosquito repellent on every table. That tells you something these people think. They care.
I ordered the 8 Cheese Pizza and Tortellini, because why not go full throttle on the carbs and soul-soothing dairy?
The pizza was a revelation thin, golden crust, kissed by fire, layered with a symphony of cheeses that melted in slow, perfect harmony. No gimmicks. Just skill, balance, and the kind of flavor that makes you forget your phone, your emails, your life. I've eaten pizza in Thamel dive bars, bougie bakeries in Patan, and mall food courts across the Valley this one made all the others feel like knockoffs. This wasnât pizza. This was a love letter written in cheese.
And then came the Tortellini filled with memories of some Italian grandmother I never had. It was rich. Subtle. Made with restraint and realness. It stuck with me, long after the plate was empty.
The staff? Warm. Smiling. Present without being pushy. Like they wanted you there, not just your money.
If thereâs a downside itâs small. Literally. Limited seats, and during monsoon season, youâre sharing your space with some airborne locals. But again they anticipated it. A bottle of repellent on every table, like a silent nod saying, âWe got you.â Emilioâs isnât a restaurant. Itâs a reminder. A reminder that good food doesnât need fanfare. That authenticity doesnât shout it simmers, slow and sure. Itâs a place for people who chase taste, not trends.
If you eat pizza in Kathmandu and skip this place, youâre...
Read moreI had an amazing dining experience at Emilioâs Pizza! The ambiance was warm and welcoming, with soft lighting and Italian music setting the perfect tone for a cozy meal. The menu offers an excellent variety of authentic Italian dishes, but the highlight was, of course, the pizza.
I tried the Margherita, and it was perfectionâthin, crispy crust with just the right amount of fresh mozzarella, basil, and tomato sauce. The ingredients were clearly of high quality, and everything tasted incredibly fresh. Their pasta dishes are also worth mentioning; the carbonara was rich and flavorful.
The staff was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable, providing great wine recommendations to pair with the meal. Service was prompt despite the restaurant being quite busy.
If you're looking for an authentic Italian dining experience with delicious food and excellent service, Emilioâs Pizza is a must-visit. Iâll definitely be returning to try more...
