The food at "de Eendracht" was delicious, local, and in season. The service could have been better. We had reserved for a group of 10, including 2 vegans. The website states that they are a vegan-friendly restaurant.
When we arrived the table was set and reserved for us, but still had a chewing toy for kids on it? This was removed by the waitress without saying a word when she was taking orders.
The paper menu card only showed part of the menu, with only a vegan main and no starters. It was not communicated that their actual menu was larger, and you could see it online.
The waitress said their goat cheese was vegan (it is not), and she didn't know they had a default vegan main (tomato carpaccio). In the end (after asking the chef) she managed to get a vegan beetroot salad. (I had no clue about the tomato carpaccio, or I would have ordered that). The beetroot salad was very good though.
Meanwhile another waitress forgot to bring two of our drinks, and this kept happening for multiple rounds. A paper version of the drinks menu was only available upon asking, and did not include hot drinks.
For the mains, there was one option (risotto) stated on the paper menu, but they also had another (burger), which was mentioned by the waitress, who insisted it was the only vegan main, so I ordered the burger. Only afterwards did I see on their online menu that it was supposed to come with fries that they didn't serve or mention, even though I paid full price.
For dessert, there was no vegan option on the paper menu. I asked the waitress if they had fruit or sorbet ice cream. She said they had fruit, but not sorbet ice cream. I didn't feel like fruit, so I asked for a tea instead. She didn't ask which tea I wanted, nor was it stated on their menu which ones they had, so I assumed she would bring me a selection. Wrong. She just randomly brought Earl Grey. With that came a butter cookie... As if I had not been asking for vegan options all night. Afterwards I found out on their website that they do serve sorbet ice cream!
Lastly when we asked for a bottle of tap water (on the side, next to multiple rounds of drinks we ordered) she refused, even though hospitality venues in the Netherlands are legally required to serve tap water for free when requested.
Summed up, the food I had was very nice, and the chef knew what (s)he was doing. The waitress on the other hand, didn't know what vegan meant, and besides in every round we ordered, multiple things were forgotten. For a restaurant advertising they cater to vegans as well, this was quite a disappointment.
2 stars for good food,...
Read moreThis restaurant is excellent!! We made a Saturday day trip to Weesp, just to know the quaint little town, and stopped here when we got hungry, close to 5:00 pm. We had to wait a little bit until they started serving dinner (we played rummikub in the meantime) but in the end, we were so amazed by the food that we couldn’t stop sending compliments to the chef! We tried: Mustard soup (a Dutch classic), delicious! Pumpkin tartare (sounds ridiculous but it was superb!) Beef carpaccio, so delicately well done! Salmon salad, wow…the care given to the every component of this salad was impressive. A veggie…something with aubergine and beet and I don’t know what else, all cooked together, but separately. My mind was blown. And a regular burger, the meat juicy and perfect. All in all, a fantastic place, wonderful experience. 5 stars to the chef! Don’t miss it if you...
Read moreCame here as part of a group celebrating a birthday. Had the vegetarian dishes that were available in the groupmenu. Both weren’t a success. The watermelon was so tasteless that it might as well have been a very watery tomato or cucumber that they gave a red color. The burrata didn’t have much flavour either and was clearly of low quality. The main resembled an airplane meal and was something entirely different from what was described on the menu. I accidentally got an alcoholic drink whilst I had ordered the non-alc version and when I mentioned it, the waitress said that couldn’t be the case. I really had to push her to go and check with the bartender after which she came back with a new drink and admitted there had been made a mistake. Long story short, wouldn’t recommend this place for food. However, their terrace looks nice for a...
