Tropicana Lounge African Restaurant — Restaurant in Amsterdam

I don’t make reviews especially if it negative because I tend not to go to that spot ever again. HOWEVER when the food is trash and the service was worse this is something we need to talk about. I order jollofrice and stewed chicken. I don’t know if this business thought because I sound American I don’t know what African food suppose to taste like. When I order something and I tell you that I’m not please with it, the chicken is hard and the stewed tomatoes taste burnt. My expectations is for you to make the situation right. I came all the way from Atlanta Georgia USA and there is plenty of places I could’ve went but I went back there. Being that’s not my first time there. MY server tells me not to be angry!! Huh WHAT??? I’m coming in your establishment spending my hard earned money and you telling me how to react. This is not how things suppose to be. Traveled all the way from Canada 🇨🇦 to enjoy African food in this place, but my experience was scattered with empty buffer trays and poor quality food. The food tasted as a week old. Plates not nomoved from the table until customers are about leave. As per restaurant schedule buffer was supposed to open at 4pm, but at 6pm, 4 out of 8 buffer trays were still empty, even though they've already charged customers 100% buffer price. Bestel hier niet!!! Ik had een bijzonder slechte ervaring met deze zaak toen ik via Thuisbezorgd een bestelling plaatste. We bestelden 2 porties tilapia, 2 keer attiéké en een portie fried plantain. Helaas arriveerde de bestelling na anderhalf uur zonder de attiéké en fried plantain.

Toen ik belde om dit op te lossen, moest ik tot drie keer toe uitleggen wat er mis was. De dame aan de telefoon luisterde niet goed en bleef volhouden dat we yams hadden besteld, terwijl onze bestelbevestiging duidelijk iets anders aangaf. Om verdere verwarring te vermijden, besloten we zelf naar het restaurant te gaan om de correcte bestelling op te halen. Daar kregen we echter te horen dat ze de vis niet opnieuw wilden maken en dat we deze maar moesten opwarmen.

Na veel aandringen stemde ze in met het bereiden van een volledig nieuwe bestelling, maar alleen als we die zelf over een half uur zouden ophalen. Nog geen twee seconden later werd die wachttijd verlengd naar 45 minuten, omdat de vis moest grillen. Toen mijn man na een uur aankwam, was de bestelling nog steeds niet klaar en kreeg hij opnieuw yams in plaats van attiéké mee. Pas toen hij nadrukkelijk wees op onze bestelbevestiging, begreep ze eindelijk haar fout.

De algehele service was chaotisch en bijzonder frustrerend. We hebben er veel te veel tijd aan besteed, en voor ons is dit een ervaring die we niet willen herhalen. Absoluut geen aanrader! Bestelling was om 18:00 geplaats en we zijn inmiddels alles bij elkaar...
