This was one of the worst experiences I have ever had in my entire life. I was there with my friends and I informed my waiter that I had a nut allergy and asked him to remove the pesto from my sandwich. Halfway through my sandwich I realized there was in fact pesto in my sandwich, but it was not visible because it was under the salad. When I informed the waiter of this there was no urgency or regard for the situation at all. I sat in the restaurant for hours on end struggling to breath, completely swollen, wheezing, chest pains, itchiness, light headed, hot flashing, the worst reaction possible. My friends told me not once did the waiter or any of the staff come by to check on me, help me, or try to assist me in anyway, shape or form. After HOURS in the detrimental situation we were getting ready to leave and only then did the manager come by. When we expressed our grievances with how this situation was handled there was no accountability whatsoever. She said that with situations like this they would call an ambulance or give us an EpiPen because their staff is well versed in allergies but NO ambulance was called, NO EpiPen was given, and if their staff was really well trained then this wouldn’t have happened in the first place. People could die from this situations and I felt the staff wasn’t that serious about it. It is absolutely disgusting how this situation was handled, and complete disregard of such life or death situation is ABSOLUTELY HORRENDOUS! He ordered a dish and specifically asked for the pesto to be removed, along with clearly stating his allergy details. Unfortunately, the dish was still served with pesto, and my friend suffered an allergic reaction that lasted for the next four hours. Instead of offering medical assistance or even checking in on him regularly, the staff did nothing beyond providing water and giving a brief, insincere apology. We had to remain in the restaurant the entire time while our friend struggled to recover. Later, the manager approached us with yet another brief apology that sounded completely disingenuous, and then directed us to pay the bill. When we asked what measures they take to prevent situations like this, the response was simply that it was a mistake and that “they are only human.” When we pressed further about what steps could be taken to ensure this wouldn’t happen again, they insisted they already had proper measures in place and claimed they would call an ambulance or use an EpiPen if the situation were serious—neither of which was ever offered to us. At no point did they ask about my friend’s condition, check in, or offer any meaningful assistance. The waiter showed was completely negligent of the whole situation and did not once come to check in on us and how we were doing.
