Isola Bella — Restaurant in Assen

Mediocre food but incredibly rude staff and chef. My girlfriend ordered the lamb which was priced as €20 on her English menu. When we came to pay the bill we were charged €25.50 for it. The staff argued this (rudely) and showed us a Dutch menu that had the price at €23. They then said they were doing us a favour by giving us a 6 year old menu that was out of date and that the menu prices were just a 'guideline', with no apology or explanation as to why it was still over charged despite their error. They also refused to budge and said they had to call the boss to come to the restaurant. Needless to say, with their terrible attitude and rude manners, I insisted on only paying the price shown on the menu we were given (€20). We will not be going back...

We were in this restaurant yesterday. The service is just terrible, we came at 21:30 and were immediately told in a mocking tone that they were closing in an hour, although the restaurant is open until 23:00. But that's not all, not only did the waitress openly laugh at us, because an hour and a half before closing, it turned out that they had no pasta. We ordered one pizza for two people, but unfortunately you can't divide one pizza into two, we had to order two, which were very salty and not tasty. I absolutely do not recommend this place if you don't want to be laughed at, kicked out early and...

Inside looks nice, but it is very noisy when busy, hard to follow conversations. Food is nice, portionsizes are large, but the taste is very 'Dutch'. Also, if you order a dish with sauce, your dish will actually be drowning in sauce. For me that's a negative. My pizza was nice, but had too many toppings, made the whole thing sag and difficult to eat. Again, an overtopped pizza night be great for some, but a negative for me. Staff was friendly enough, but undertrained...
