Restaurant Jasmijn Garden | Wok Live Cooking & Buffet — Restaurant in Assen

Vegetarians, don't go here. This is your typical cheap (but pricey) all you can eat family restaurant. We were with a group of ten of which three vegetarians, who were unhappy with the food selection. Besides salad, there was no vegetarian appetizer. No vegetarian soup. For the wok selection I chose the he green vegetables. These were poorly prepared: the sugar snaps and beans all strings, the broccoli too raw. The sauce was bland. I tried to communicate with the cook to ask for extra spicy. No luck there, not even with mime gestures. Understands Chinese only. Had to add pepper sauce (sambal oelek) myself. Not to leave hungry, the only option was to fill my stomach with rice or noodles.

There seemed to be a lot to choose from, but there was nothing that appealed to me, except for sushi, of which there were just a few pieces, farthest off in a dim corner. Almost everything was to be scooped out of large containers, like in a soup kitchen. Only sweet deserts were available. No cheese and crackers or something else hearty.

With just a few drinks and a cup of coffee, 39 euros is way too expensive!

I didn't hear anyone else being enthusiastic about the food, and they're not picky at all.

Jasmijn Garden bestaat uit 3 restaurants in 1. De traditionele wok is boven en beneden is de zaal voor zowel Fusion/Grill als a-la-carte. Wij gingen voor Fusion. Ook hier betekent dat kleine gerechtjes bestellen via een tablet. Altijd prima. De prijzen hier zijn gelijkwaardig aan de andere bekende restaurants in Assen. Helaas is Fusion bij Jasmijn Garden nog niet zo bekend dus we waren deze avond welgeteld met 6 personen in totaal in het restaurant. De aankleding is super hoewel de planten dan plastic zijn. Ook in het vijvertje bij de ingang. De vissen zijn daar wel echt. Het is coronatijd dus er is netjes rekening gehouden met de 1,5 meter afstand. Pijlen op de grond geven een looproute aan. We zijn die avond bediend door 5 verschillende personen waarbij de één meer rekening houdt met de 1,5 meter afstand dan de ander. Terwijl het makkelijk kon aan de tafel. Verder zijn ze wel vriendelijk hoor, hoewel daar ook wat gradatie in aan te brengen viel. Nu het eten. An sich allemaal prima. We kunnen de Duck Pancakes echt aanraden. Hadden we nog nergens anders ooit gehad. Zo waren er wel meer gerechten die iets anders waren dan ergens anders. Maar wat ons op een gegeven moment wat tegenstond was de sausjes. Bij zo ongeveer elk gerecht werd een knoflook/lenteui sausje geserveerd. Er stond natuurlijk wel een kannetje sojasaus op tafel maar dat maakt het vooral zout. Wat meer variatie zou fijn zijn. Een tip voor meer van dit soort restaurants trouwens. Daarnaast, ik mag graag wat zoutig eten, volgens mijn vrouw eet ik veel te zout, maar zelfs ik vond het op een gegeven moment te zout. Alles samenvattend, het eten is prima maar we hebben zeker lekkerder gegeten op andere locaties. De bediening is vriendelijk maar als je een 1,5 meter afstand regel hanteert doe dat dan ook aan tafel. Zou ik dit restaurant aanraden. Jawel hoor. Maar het is niet mijn...

Had a meal here with a small group. Price in line of variety and quality of offering. Friendly staff. Nice assortment of 3 different alcohol free beers. Sampled some starters, overall good. Wok cooking was done effectively and was tasty, Had some steak and sliced courgette from the grill, was tasty, but all was in same flavour. Staff regularly came round to clear plates. Nice children's specific food, a critical young eater will find enough to be happy too.

Overall goof experience, not spectacular or outstanding, but would happily eat here again.
