I was little hesitant to visit the place because of bad reviews dated a year ago. But beautiful view and picturesque sunset has lured us into the restaurant. Apparently the establishment has new owner and she was able to turn the place around. It was a sunset time and we got a table on the terrance and ordered few glasses rose (it goes beautiful with the view). About 40 minutes past we felt hungry and ordered an appetizer and one dish to share: polenta snacks and grilled fish (today's catch). Food was simple, fresh and delicious! The staff was very friendly and we gathered a lot of information about places you must visit while on Curacao. During conversation we mentioned to the owner of restaurant about fish we got from local fisherman. To our pleasant surprise the owner shared the receipts on how to cook the fish and provided us with spices and ingredients needed. It was unexpected and very sweet! The restaurant was clean and spacious, with wooden furniture and big open air terrace. At the dusk they turning on tea candle lights and it makes the place very romantic. The place is very good if you are visiting with small kids: restaurant has big playhouse/child area. Your kid will be safe and sound while you...
Read moreI recommend you do not eat here. I repeat do not eat here. We just returned from a Caribbean cruise. January 19, 2019, while in Curacao, we rented a car to tour the island and stopped at the Restaurant Playa Forti for lunch. My wife had their shrimp cocktail. The rest of us had other dishes from the menu.
About 7-8 hours after eating at the Restaurant Playa Forti, and while having dinner on the ship, she suddenly developed severe stomach cramps, a head ache and severe chills and had to immediately leave dinner and go to our cabin where she basically spent the next three days in bed. Later the night of January 19, she became very feverish, chills and other symptom consistent with food poisoning. This persisted over the next few days.
We left the ship on January 23. She is now better, however she is still ill and weak, as she has been for days. My recommendation is don’t eat here.
As I write this review it is now Thursday January 24, 2019. We are now home and she is still weak from this experience. I am doing fine as well as the other couple we travelled with so she was not contagious. My unprofessional opinion is she developed “Food Poisoning” I suggest you don’t eat at...
Read moreWe were in Curacao as a port call on a cruise, and rented a car to get around on our own instead of an overpriced excursion. This restaurant stop was exactly why we did this approach! We’d gone to Playa Grande and were on the way to another beach when we saw this spot on the side of the road and saw how it overlooks the beach. It was an absolutely perfect day to sit outside and we got a table with a great view.
We ordered the grilled mahi mahi (delicious) and a burger for the girls who were kinda seafooded out by that point in the trip (also very good). One warning, for those of us who are spoiled by almost always having fileted fish that are completely deboned, this was a cross-cut and had to be checked for bones. We shared some fish with a local kitty who was in danger of being cat-napped and brought home with us.
So between the excellent food, a tasty cocktail (with blue Curacao of course) and a beer for me, and the astonishing view, this was among our favorite stops over our vacation. Would absolutely go back given the...
