We chose every veggie course on the menu, except for desserts. So choices were limited. As starters we had the avocado roll and the bos coquilles. De avocado roll was nice, but the bos coquilles were a joke. 8 mushroom stems for €12. Don't buy them.

As a main we chose the watermelon steak and the Risotto. The risotto was nice, but could have used something to replace the absent cheese or some protein like vegen chicken. Also the portion was a bit small. Especially for €24. The watermelon steak I won't recommend to anyone. It's a new experience, sure, but what you get does not fill and the price is absurd. €24 for a piece of watermelon that is like 50 cents at a supermarket and a bit of sauce. The fries you have to side order for €5,50.

The desserts we chose were the hangop with strawberries vegan option. Hangop is strained yoghurt, so as a vegan option you get just a normal vegan yoghurt. It was ok. We also had the "boerderij coupe" which is icecream with raisons on brandy and eggnog", which was actually nice.

With 2 tea's and 2 beers we spend €112,40 excluding the tip. Totally...

I am an American visiting friends in The Netherlands for three weeks and last week, I visited De Waldhoorn in Otterlo, The Netherlands.

I was in this beautiful part of The Netherlands visiting the Kroller-Mueller Museum nearby as well as wandering the Velowe woods area and national park.

After the museum, where we had timed tickets for 10.30am, we stopped at De Waldhoorn which is at the intersection of the main road we took from Utrecht.

De Waldhoorn has an indoor space, but really the gem is the large outdoor area (with smoking and non-smoking sections).

On a fine day, the patio area will be packed with guests (we were there on a Wednesday for lunch and it was popular).

I had the dikbil burger, which is a particularly type of Dutch meat. It was 15 euros and came with fries. I enjoyed it.

Next door was a farmers market selling fruit, and I bought some oranges.

There is plenty of free parking across the street.

Highly recommend De Waldhoorn if you are visiting Kroller Muller or Otterlo for...

Very cozy restaurant with great food, great service, and fair prices. The steak and the deer main dishes were very good, however, without any side dishes. It would have been nice to have at least some fries as a side dish. The truffle French fries were good and crispy. The dessert crème brûlée and tiramisu were also good. The place is child and pet-friendly. They have some things for the kids to play with and color while having dinner. The service was always very friendly. We would definitely come back again.

Nice restaurant with a good vibe close to the Veluwe. The restaurant actually offers local dishes from this area, including game from the Veluwe. If you want to go out for dinner and you are looking for something bit special, this is the place to go. The portions of the soups and starters are quite big and main course (runder pannegies) Server with fries is more then enough. The staff is friendly and well trained and the atmosphere in the restaurant is matching with their menu and location of the restaurant
