Nopal — Restaurant in Flushing

Simply exceptional. I couldn’t quite believe my luck finding such a gem. The food is truly delicious, cooked with such care and love, prepared just for you. You can tell the chef knows what she’s doing and cares deeply for her dishes. They were out of salsa verde during my visit but she improvised a banging pineapple salsa as a substitute. The drinks menu is perfectly on point: tequila and mezcal, margarita and paloma, Pacifico and modelo, and a wine in each colour. Finally, the atmosphere is so warm and welcoming. The owner/front of house is naturally warm and friendly, one never wants to leave. I wouldn’t be surprised if Nopal became one the most successful places in the region....

Would love to give 5 stars because the food was really tasty and staff were generally very nice. However, we had to wait for more than an hour to get our food, only to then realize that the portions are pretty small. We were there with a toddler, and if your food arrives after 21:00 if you ordered it around 19:45, that just is not acceptable. And we were still hungry when we left so ordered some delivery to the hotel, after putting the toddler to sleep.

Sadly the expectations were higher than what was the reality. We went there hungry and left hungry! The waitress or the owner was nice helpful. The tables are super small, but that is oke because the place itself is small too. The biggest problem was the portion of the food. We were waiting pretty long and finished with the plate in 2minutes. I was also expecting a little bit more options for the food. And more flavours. The place is kinda new and i hope they will fix those things...
