Loong Foong — Restaurant in Gennep

We cycled here from Center Parcs Het Heijderbos which built up a little bit more of an appetite for our takeaway. Our initial confusion on entry was trying to work out where to order a takeaway - despite the website providing a takeaway menu, none of the staff appeared to know what a take away was and it was only when i remembered mee nemen that they told us we needed to go to a different room - basically turn left on entry for the restaurant or right for a takeaway (I think a sign would be helpful there). The staff speak Dutch and German so make sure you either have a decent food dictionary with you or can speak either of those before arrival. My main confusion was over Bami and Nasi (noodles and rice - or vice versa!). The food was ok but our local Chinese restaurant is excellent and it did not compete. The chowmein dish was a bit bland - more like a soup with noodles in, but the sweet and sour chicken was better with more spices in it. The house fried rice was good and the chicken satay starter was excellent. There is only a limited choice of starters and for us this was a disappointment as these are our favourite part of a Chinese meal. Lekker Chinees eten voor een scherpe prijs. Vandaag met zessen het buffet gekozen wat ze op zaterdag en zondag vanaf 5 uur hebben. Ze hebben diverse koude voorgerechten klaar staan en twee soorten soep en ook een paar warme voorgerechtjes. Daarnaast een scala aan de gebruikelijke gerechten in bakken klaar om op te scheppen van goede kwaliteit. En dan de bakplaat erg leuk gedaan, je kunt een klip met je tafel nummer meenemen en de aan de zijkant van het bord doen en dan kies je uit het koel gedeelte de vlees vis groenten gerechten die je gebakken wilt hebben en zet die bij de bakplaat klaar. En niet veel later wordt het aan tafel geserveerd. De bediening is vriendelijk en erg vlot. En uiteraard kan het toetjes buffet met ijs taartjes fruit en dergelijke niet ontbreken. Allemaal erg lekker en voor herhaling vatbaar. Verwacht niet het grootste assortiment in alles verder is er...
