We had the pleasure of visiting Het Oude Dykhuys in June for the “Dining with the Stars” event, and it was a truly memorable afternoon. Nestled in a charming, historic setting, the restaurant delivered a beautifully curated 5-course lunch that lived up to the event’s stellar reputation.

From the moment we arrived, the service was warm and attentive without being overbearing — a perfect balance that let us enjoy the experience with friends while feeling genuinely looked after.

Each course was a thoughtful composition of seasonal ingredients and refined technique. I highly recommend this restaurant to all the people out there who are looking for some good vegetarian options. The staff is too good and very friendly. They make you understand what they are serving, and trust me, and they are good at that. I have some food restrictions, and I called the restaurant a day before my visit about the food items I could eat; they were pretty less in number, but the chef took the challenge, and he passed challenge with flying colours. De locatie is prachtig, het personeel vriendelijk en de service uitmuntend. Jammer dat zo'n mooi pand totaal geen sfeer heeft zodra je binnen stapt. Een grote witte (eet)zaal gecreëerd in een ruimte waar zoveel potentie is om er iets bijzonders en warms van te maken. Jammer. Ons wild menu was veel belovend en de bonbon van gerecht 1 was dan ook heerlijk. De chardonnay die begeleidde goed gekozen door aardige sommelier Daan. Ook het tweede gerecht, de rood patrijs combineerde prachtig met een Duitse rode wijn die qua smaak richting een Spatburgunder ging. Daarna werd het minder. De fijne Libanese wijn werd vlak en zurig onder begeleiding van het kruidige hert dat overigens uitstekend was klaargemaakt. De kaasplank was subliem maar ook hierbij de port niet zo'n goede keuze. Jammer als je vertrekt dat de chloor dampen van de keuken en bar die wordt schoongemaakt je tegemoet komen. Doet toch wel af aan de roes van de tafel beleving die meteen weg was. Helaas hadden we zelf niet goed opgelet en kwamen we er thuis achter dat onze aperitief keuze niet op de bon stond. Wel twee andere dure drankjes. Opletten bij het afrekenen dus. Al met al een mooie tent die alle ingrediënten heeft om nog veel beter te zijn als er wat meer aandacht wordt geschonken aan details, sfeer en gekozen combinaties.
