Cactus Cafe — Restaurant in Hengelo

I was so curious about how the new line up of Wille and the Bandits might be that I couldn't wait till they come to Aachen and decided to go to their concert in Hengelo. It was quite nice that the concert started already at 3pm; that should be the case more often, because it makes getting back home after the concert much easier and booking a room for a night unnecessary. The concert had been organized by Vrienden van Cactus Live and if you were a member you could have visited the concert for free. Though the Cactus claims to be the smallest stage in Twente, I liked the acoustics and I also had a good view of the stage. The Cactus has (among other beers) good Chouffe (Blonde) and Grimbergen (Dubbel) on tap. The concert itself was different than it had been with the previous line up (e.g. I missed the double bass and I preferred some old versions of the songs over the new ones, though having four musicians instead of only three added positively to some other songs) but all in all they definitely left me addicted enough so that I am impatiently awaiting my next concert fix. After the concert (it ended at 5:10pm including a break after the first half for socialising/buying CDs and stuff because the band had to leave shortly after the concert to catch their ferry) I had only 6 minutes to get to the station for the next train to Zutphen. I didn't really believe that I could make it and and was already prepared for waiting an hour for the next train but started running nonetheless and despite (or maybe thanks to?) the fact that I was already feeling the two glasses of Chouffe in my brain I was sitting in the train only 4...

Great place to hang out with family and friends. Recently my husband Cris had his last performance with the band. It was a amazing atmosphere with all the collections. Love the friendly and warm welcome from Rose. Everything is perfect. We will come again....

Gezelligheid, goede (live) muziek en dat alles in een prachtig sfeervol ingericht café. Voor ieder wat wils: dansen of lekker aan de bar, swingende bandjes of een rustig huiskamerconcert... altijd een heerlijke ambiance, vlotte service, leuke bardames en -heren en gegarandeerd veel plezier. Kortom een topavond (of middag). Wij komen er graag en komen zeker binnenkort...
