David's Bar & Restaurant — Restaurant in Hilversum

David’s Bar & Restaurant offers a spacious and stylish setting with a nice atmosphere and well-designed bars, making it an inviting place for drinks. However, beyond the ambiance, the experience quickly goes downhill—especially when it comes to the food and pricing.

The food was a major letdown. Out of our group of 14, 10 people found their meals disappointing, which speaks volumes about the quality. The club sandwich was bland and dry, lacking any effort to make it enjoyable. The Kroketten van Helkamp consisted of two deep-fried clumps placed on a piece of bread—far from appetizing. The Chicken Katsu was mostly breading, with just 80 grams of dry chicken breast hidden beneath a thin layer of coleslaw.

To make matters worse, the prices were quite high for what was served. I ordered a Diet Coke, which came in a tiny 200ml bottle. Adding to the frustration, I was the only one in our group who didn’t receive ice in my glass. Despite my attempts to get the attention of the staff, I was ignored, leaving me to force down a very dry meal with a small, lukewarm drink.

Overall, while David’s has a great space and a promising setup, the overpriced, disappointing food and lack of attentive service make it a place I wouldn’t recommend. If you're just stopping by for a drink, you might enjoy the setting—but for a meal,...

Went here to get a bite to eat before a show. Totally worth it. The quality and portions of the dishes are totally in line with the price. Burger is tasty, yet slightly large to get into your mouth properly. Not a bad thing. The Philly Cheese steak is a lot. Good taste, nice bread, great presentation.

The vibe is clean, and professional, with a slight touch of high-end. Exactly what you would expect at a studio location. Service is friendly and they don’t bother you with constant attention. A friendly wave and they are right there at your table.

Definitely coming back if we decide to visit another show at...

Edit 06 sept 2025: nu een keer of 5 hier geweest sinds onderstaande review - en de mening van mij en mijn vrouw blijft onveranderd :) Sterker nog, de Philly Cheesesteak is nog beter geworden, omdat ze het brood hebben veranderd. Hulde.

Ik heb zelf in een Michelin restaurant gewerkt, dus kan kritisch zijn :) En, De Nederlandse horeca kan nogal eens tegenvallen, to put it mildly. Maar wat ik gisterenavond - voor aanvang van de opnames van Dit Was Het Nieuws ervaarde - was gewoon heel, heel erg goed.

Het personeel is super vriendelijk en bekwaam. Er heerst een fijne sfeer in het restaurant. Het eten is bijzonder goed van smaak en erg goed van kwaliteit (ik had een Philly CheeseSteak en mijn vrouw een hamburger) en eigenlijk was dit een unieke situatie waarbij ik niets te klagen had. Zelfs het dessert (cheesecake) was subliem.

En the devil is in the details: toen we net zaten, vroeg ik of de muziek heel misschien iets zachter mocht. Niet dat deze te hard stond, verre van: maar ik ben erg gevoelig voor prikkels - en na een lange autorit mocht het van mij iets zachter. En dat was geen enke probleem. Heel fijn - en ook wel eens anders meegemaakt. Keurig!

Zeer verdiend een fooi gegeven - en we gaan hier op zeker terugkomen. De moeite waard om voor om te rijden, zelfs als je niet naar tv opnames gaat. Knus, goed eten, fijn personeel. En de Amerikaanse touch is ook leuk om te noemen. Weer eens wat anders dan een satee en schnitzel.
