A Hidden Culinary Gem by the Marina
From the outside, you might hesitate—“Am I really about to dine in an old yacht club?” The building looks a bit dated and unassuming. But then you catch the view: a lovely spot right by the marina, and things start looking up.
Step inside, and the first impression still doesn’t scream ‘wow’. The interior is simple, the atmosphere casual, and most of the staff are young and easygoing. There is an open kitchen, which adds a nice touch of liveliness to the experience.
But then the food arrives—and that’s where the real magic begins.
We were pleasantly surprised with a series of creative amuses, followed by a beautifully crafted seven-course tasting menu. Each dish was refined, packed with flavor, and artfully presented. One dish—a slow-cooked pork belly—was slightly less refined than the rest, with a dressing that leaned a bit too heavy on the fat. Still tasty, but not quite at the same level.
Overall, the food easily earns a solid 4.5 stars. The wine pairings complemented the dishes nicely—well chosen, enjoyable, though not particularly bold or daring.
This place is a true hidden gem. With a bit of a facelift to the decor, it could be flirting with a full five-star experience. Our full experience—including seven courses, a “Bob” wine pairing, and a glass of bubbly to start—came to €300 total.
Absolutely worth it. Highly...
Read moreLast weekend our (extended) family celebrated an occasion here with a lunch. Not my first time at Plantage 87, but even still the whole experience was absolutely delightful. The appetizers are creative, delicious and surprise you with both flavor and structure. The courses were a feast for both the eyes and the mouth, doing a great job visiting various taste palettes. The course pacing was wodnerful too as you never had to wonder when the next course would be brought out nor did you feel rushed. As someone who studied hospitality I was delighted to notice that the staff managed to apply formal serving etiquette in an informal atmosphere with great ease and subtlety. Cannot praise this experience enough. Thank you for reading all of this through to the end and please treat yourself to one of the meals at Plantage 87, you...
Read moreWhat a wonderful local restaurant. My wife and I spent Valentines evening here and we enjoyed their 7 course menu including wine pairings.
From the snow crab salad at the start, to the poached oysters, red mullet, prawn dumpling and coquilles, it was a delicious seafood medley to start. Then a lovely piece of pork neck and finally ending with some delicious lime curd, with yellow curry and lychee.
The wine pairings, while quite nice, I only wish they could have been as adventurous as the food. And my god the port at the end was expensive. Probably won’t do that again.
Oh, I didn’t even mention the amuse bouche we had before the menu, particularly the amazing mini Bahn Mi, which really tickled my wife as she is from Vietnam. Tasted amazing.
Go, don’t think, just go. Just carefully consider the...
