Ross Lovell aan den IJssel — Restaurant in Krimpen aan den IJssel

It was a rather disappointing experience.

We booked the 5 course meal to celebrate my father (who came to visit from South Africa) 73rd birthday-we called in advanced to inform them about the occasion , they we very friendly about it and said the chef would make something special about it and they would notify it in the reservation. So needless to say. We were expectant and excited about making a special evening for our parents (in a very nice location too!)

Then the day arrived- the reception was empty, we stood in the hall for 5minutes before letting ourselves in, and were sort of pointed to an open table. The service in general lacked some finesse and table etiquette - cutlery was reset for half the table at times, we poured our own drinks the entire evening, given that you cannot see a menu of wine list at all - you get what they think is best, you’d expect a bit more service and attention to detail.

We specifically asked that the waiter would explain in English since our parents were not Dutch , but he just continued in Dutch since it was easier for him to mention the ingredients in Dutch. But no attempt was made to check if we understood or tried to find the English words before serving the table.

The food was okay. Good portions but the dessert was a complete let down. “Infused granola with milk and a scoop of ice cream)!! 😐 And to celebrate the birthday , they sent a sparkle in a pot of sugar.

So in general, it was an okay experience, food was decent, people were friendly but we were definitely...

Zondag 4 augustus weer een keer in Ross Lovell gegeten. Mooi weer, het terras was redelijk bezet. Men had duidelijk niet op ''zoveel'' gasten gerekend. Er liep één jongen in de bediening die van goede wil was, maar totaal geen ervaring had. Op de vraag wat het weekmenu inhield kregen we een vaag antwoord. De wijn die we bestelden was ''onvindbaar''. Na een half uur werd de fles alsnog gevonden en uitgeschonken zonder te laten proeven. Het eten was zeer matig. De gamba's met pasta, basilicum en een salsa van tomaat leek nergens op. Kleine stukjes garnaal met wat rucola en een prutje rijst wat de naam risotto niet verdiende. De Marokkaanse kip met zuidvruchten en couscous was vlak van smaak en bestond uit een zelfde rijstebrij als de gamba's met 2 twee kleine stukjes gedroogde pruimen .Absoluut onduidelijk wat hier Marokkaans aan was. Ook de bestelde sukade was niet bijzonder, zowel qua smaak als presentatie. Kortom, zeer teleurstellend, zowel qua smaak, aandacht als presentatie. Hier spreekt geen liefde voor...
