BAIANA — Restaurant in Lingewaard

First the good. Staff are very friendly and coffee and cakes are tasty and fresh. Views over the river are fabulous. The less good. Menu never changes and there are no specials. Twice I have had a disappointing lunch there. Avocado was off one time and the Watermelon salad was not adequate as a meal. About 10 grams of feta but largely lettuce. Bread was not included but chef was kind enough to give me 2 slices when I asked at outdoor serving hatch. They chiefly make their money from events. There is no passion for food. And no interest in local returning customers.

Reply to owner. Thank you, Mark for reading and responding to my review. It was a little harsh to say there is no passion re the food. But that is my (purely) subjective experience and I have visited (smaller restaurants) where the passion for food and customer service is more palpable. Also, re the events I can't help but feel unwelcome when I walk in at 4pm and many tables are reserved for an event later in the day. A lovely beach, restaurant, chill, terrace or potential place to have a celebration after Corona. If the weather is good you can sit and enjoy lunch and drinks on there very own private beach with beach chairs, music and bar facilities. Lovely for family, couple, young kids. Wat een gemiste kans! De locatie en inrichting/indeling is prachtig. Het personeel en de keuken is daarentegen een aanfluiting. Bijna een uur gewacht op wat eten wat bij nader inzien al een half uur achter de bar stond koud te worden. Als ik mijn serveerster daarop aanspreek krijg ik de opmerking 'ja, ik neem ook maar alleen de bestellingen op, daar ga ik ook niet over hoor'. De dames achter de bar zeuren tegen elkaar over de klanten die klagen over de enorme wachttijden (wat logisch is aangezien er maar 2 dames drinken staan in te schenken voor het hele terras/strand!), als je een meneer die er werkt vraagt of je wat mag vragen krijg je als antwoord 'nee', waarop hij wegloopt. Dezelfde meneer vraag ik later op de dag of ik wat drinken bij hem kan bestellen en krijg dan als antwoord 'ik vrees het ergste' en hij maakte nog even het "grapje": 'eens even kijken of jullie je plekje wel netjes achterlaten' met gemaakt lachje toen we weggingen.
