Kiso by Nan — Restaurant in Nijmegen

A happy accident and one of the nicest surprises this year.

I stumbled upon this place with my boyfriend by accident, and it turned out to be one of those happy accidents.

From the moment you walk in, you can tell that every part of the restaurant is highly attended to. It’s very spacey, clean, and has a beautiful, calm vibe.

We sat outside on the terrace on a sunny day, and the atmosphere was just perfect. You can feel that someone really put a lot of attention and intention into how the whole place looks and feels.

We had ramen, bibimbap, and some sushi to start, and I honestly don’t remember the last time I had sushi that good. I usually prefer mine very classic, but what we got was both beautifully served and absolutely delicious.

The place is spotless, even the toilet rooms were up to a really high standard, which says a lot to me.

The service was warm and friendly, and a small touch that meant a lot, the waiter even greeted me in my own language.

All in all, an absolutely positive experience, and we can't wait to...

I went with my team from work for the first time on Thursday and immediately decided to go there again. That was the following Saturday. I usually don't do that, but I really liked the food and the drinks (mocktail mango/matcha). It's a great place. The food was excellent; service friendly, with a sense of humor and prompt; lovely interior, inside and on the terrace. Comfortable chairs. Not too low (I'm small), so I could fit comfortably at the table. They have an open kitchen, but we noticed there was hardly any kitchen noise and we sat right opposite. Open kitchens are usually very noisy, but the staff worked quietly; no clattering pots and pans....

Disclaimer Ik kan alleen reviewen op de kwaliteit van wat wij hebben gegeten. Voor ik daaraan begin mag gezegd worden het restaurant heeft een mooie uitstraling en ambiance. De inrichting vind ik mooi gedaan. Het personeel loopt rond in diverse personeelskleding met kleuren die passen in het geheel.Op de zijmuur tafels zit jel dichter bij je naburende aanwezigen maar dat ervoeren wij niet als storend. Je kunt er een babbeltje mee aangaan als dat wederzijds is of info vragen over wat te kiezen. Het personeel heeft vaak niet alles een keer geproefd, een gebrek in restaurantcultuur in de gastronomie dus restaurant afhankelijk, enfin. Er zijn ook tafels die wat meer op zichzelf dus daar rekening rekening mee houden. De service is redelijk dat zeg ik omdat de bediening bestellingen goed zie opnemen maar vaak niet direct bij de juiste tafel bezorgd. De Tonkotsu broth mag wat meer diepte en het vlees kan beter, dat oogde niet mooi qua kleur en miste smaak van zichzelf . Om het pittig te maken moet ik extra betalen . Dat heb ik niet gedaan. Waarmee het pittig wordt gemaakt weet ik niet, de koreaanse keuken kent vele pittige condimenten. De noodles waren stevig dus goed. De Bibimbap viel niet zo in de smaak en dat lag deels aan de besteller maar ook aan degene die het bereide. Als je het voor het eerst eet en alles van de samjang vermengd gebeurt dat. Samjang pasta is nogal sterk gezouten van smaak. Ik zou zeggen probeer het maar eet gedoseerd vooraleer je alles ondoordacht mixt. De teleurstelling was de mango sticky rice. Dat mango was niet rijp en de stickyrice met kokos die moet wel echt zijn Niet een drapje kokosmelk over pandan rijst of wat de soort rijst ook was maar het was geen kleefrijst .Al met al ga ik terug de menukaart maakt nieuwsgierig. Voor nu geef ik 3 sterren, 4 zou mijn andere reviews teniet doen en inboeten aan mijn objectieve subjectieve...
