We visited Oriental Plaza Nijmegen twice recently.
The 1st visit was on the 8th June 2014 and we had our lunch at the "Chinees Cantonees Restaurant" , that indeed was kind of a good experience with them for the 1st visit. The food is nice and the price is reasonable.
Yesterday 15th June, once again we visited this "Chinees cantonees Restaurant", we had really a BAD EXPERIENCE with them. The food is nice, BUT the price they charge is so UNREASONABLE !!!
We ordered basically the same dishes of what we had during our 1st visit but with an additional plate of fried Chinese Pak Choy. Can anyone guess what is the cost of the fried Pak Choy ? Note; Pak choy fried with garlic and nothing else in it.
EUR 16.50 !!!
We called up the restaurant to query om this issue and we we told that yes that is the correct price charged.
Here is some reference of the prices can see from the Menu: A plate of rosted pork + char siew + rosted duck = EUR17.50 A plate of XO sauce fried noodle is not more than EUR14.00 A bowl of 8 pieces wan tan soup with pay choy vege in it is EUR9.50 A plate of 2 big sticy rice with Chicken (Loh mai kai) is EUR4.50 A plate of Sui mai is EUR4.75
Well, fried Chinese Pak Choy is not in the menu, we asked the waiter is there any fried vege that we can order and well he named 3 types and we chose the fried chinese pak choy, who will ever believe or think that a simple fried chinese pak choy can so so expense comparing to all those dishes that I have given as example as above ?
We will never visit this restaurant anymore and we will also spread out how unreasonable the charge for a simple fried vege that the vege can be so easy buy from the toko that cost only EUR1.25 per bag (that is more than enough to cook two to three plates of what we have got from the restaurant). A EUR0.40 to EUR0.70 cost vege + labour cost is not even more than EUR5.00 and they charge EUR16.50 !!!!
Terrible and Horrible ...
Read moreYesterday evening, together with my partner, I had dinner at Jiro (ground floor). This restaurant works with an all-you-eat system containing three elements.
Firstly, one can make use of rounds ordering small dishes (you can have unlimited rounds and choose 5 dishes pp per round). Secondly, you may make use of the wok buffet unlimited. Thirdly, there is a dessert buffet with unlimited use. This makes the price of 25,50 pp on peak evenings reasonable. Especially owing to the quality. Personally, the wok area is not that special, but fresh and good. However, the rounds contained very tasty food from different Asian cuisines (Indonesian, Japanes, Thai, and some western food choices). I was nicely suprised! Nevertheless, I skipped the dessert buffet. Thanks to the delicious rounds I did not need that and I decided to focus more on the little dishes instead of sweet desserts.
One extra tip: take the...
Read moreI've only been here once and only tried the Korean section.
Overal it was good, but could have some improvements here and there. Hence why I don't give it full stars.
Food is decent and ok, but isn't the top tier quality stuff. (which is ok for the price you pay for). Certain meats are seasoned way too salty, so keep that in mind.
As for service, the waitress might sometimes forget your order, so sometimes you have to be pro active to get what you want. (Korean BBQ has the advantage that you get the food and cook it yourself, so you aren't dependent on them for that part).
The atmosphere is ok, but could be a little cramped. The ventilation could also need some improvement. Assume you'll end up smelling...
