Plek Nijmegen — Restaurant in Nijmegen

I've been to Plek a lot because it's a bar close to my house and has a nice vibe but honestly, it's got to the point now where I'd rather cycle into the city and actually get served rather than wait as long as you have to just for a drink. The waitresses are always standing round the bar chatting every time, and that's super nice to see that they clearly like working together, but I've come to eat/grab a drink and you are so easily ignored. It's a nice place and has pretty decent food, but the service is just way too slow and lax. And it's not like it's a one off, it's every time. Maybe you might get initial quick service, but then they forget about you. This time, I was sat for nearly 20 minutes before someone finally came over to ask if I would like something to drink (it's not busy). The worst part is that I came just for a quick drink before I went to an appointment. Bleh, I've also been a waitress so I get it but such a shame of such...

Plek was good place for us ,we where coming here every weekend,food is amazing ,but with our last visit we where super disappointed. We see that new staff are changing older one .Most of the time when we where here there was a positive staff attitude and fast serving dishes.Now staff member wasn't smiling ,didn't offer us anything ,in empty restaurant they give us a table for two in deepest corner of the restaurant.Also drink order was mixed up .Instead of peppermint tea we got earl Grey,instead of big pint of beer I got small one.Food was amazing as always 👏 .Owner of the place was always smiling and super welcome towards us ,but new staff seemed unhappy that we visit this place so early (12:40).Definitely will visit this place again but where disappointed for the first time .Really hope it's gonna change .Still recommend this place cuz food...

I came to Nijmegen for the Vierdaagse and I stayed with a host family the lived close to Plek. I was in the city for 5 days and came to Plek 3 of those days. The outdoor patio is lovely and the inside is quite comfortable as well. The staff is friendly, the food was very good, and there was a nice beer and wine selection as well.

Although I’m vegetarian, I ordered a vegan entree (the special vegan pizza). Our waiter ensured that I was getting a meal that fit within my dietary preferences. There was a slight issue with my order that delayed it and the waiter offered me a complimentary glass of wine. It was not necessary however they more than outdid themselves to correct a minor mistake.

There are also ceramics for sale and I would have purchased some if I had any room left in...
