L'Amazona Restobar — Restaurant in Rotterdam

We waited 1.5 hours for our food and it still wasn’t even ready. Keep in mind we only ordered appetizers because we were hoping it would be a bit quicker to prepare as we had somewhere to go after (the menu mentions in Spanish that the wait for the food might be long). After waiting for an hour I kept on trying to catch the attention of the waiters to inquire about our food, but the service was pretty bad and they never came to us, the entire time after we ordered (keep in mind that we were seated by the bar so we were right in front of the staff). After 1.5 hours I got up and went directly to one of the waiters to ask about the status of our order as we were in a bit of a rush by that point, and at that point he let us know that they had just started to cook the meat from our order so it would take a while (which we could have been informed at any point before or at the moment we ordered). At this point we asked to have our order cancelled because we did not have more time to be waiting...

We were eating here for the first time yesterday after viewing their reels on Instagram. When we got there we were amazed by how authentic and cute the place looks. A hidden rough diamond.

The welcome was great, the patroa was superkind and welcoming. She was speaking in Spanish and English to us which actually gave an extra dimension to the experience. We replied in Brazilian-Portuguese and English which was fine.

The atmosphere was tropical, good tunes on the background and smiley people on each table. A lot of laughs and excited people enjoying their food.

We ordered two sides and two mains and it was sooo much!! Really worth the money and super fresh, fresh, fresh! The tastes and combinations were truly Latin and we still have a doggy bag for tonight after worktops haha.

We had a reservation for Saturday at 19:00, and although our table wasn’t ready when we arrived, the staff handled it politely and asked us to wait outside. It took about 40 minutes to be seated comfortably, and some drinks were sold out.

Our food arrived in two intervals, but every dish was incredible—fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. The portion sizes were generous, and the sauce that came with the empanadas was especially delicious.

The restaurant is small and packed, which may contribute to the delays, but the staff remained friendly and welcoming throughout. Despite some organizational hiccups, the quality of the food and the positive attitude of the team make this place worth visiting.
