After reading some reviews I know what people mean about being overcharged. We ordered a quick lunch with a hot dog and chicken tenders from the kids menu and a curry shrimp dish. My 3 year old often doesn't know what he wants, so we ordered 2 small items and I would eat what he didn't want. The food was good and the service was decent. Not to slow. Our waiter was actually really cool and seemed like a nice guy. When it came time for the check there were two receipts. They were about $20 difference. It was definitely not the exchange rates. We had 2 $100 bills and since the higher total was around 90 us, we gave them both bills. My husband was looking at the check for a while which caused a manager lady to keep looking our way. The server quickly came over and picked up the check and we handed the server the two hundreds and ask for change in order to tip. When he came back he only had $90 in change and immediately the manager lady came over and started talking to the server. Anther easier even came over and was also contributing to their conversation. I could pick up a few Spanish words but they were definitely talking numbers and what amount to give back to us. It seemed very disorganized. We left a tip and then while walking out we were second-guessing the pill. My husband even went back in to ask the server if we had tipped him enough because the amounts changed. The server said we were good. Initially i thought that maybe there was some tax or service fees added, but now seeing the other reviews.... I'm thinking they were scamming us. I suppose if you go here just keep an eye on your bill but the food was pretty good and my son's "special chocolate drink" was excellent although I'm sure we were charged $25 for that drink.

I realize that most people are just there on vacation and won’t be returning customers but the best thing about this place was the location and the decor. The service wasn’t very good as the waiters were very slow and seemed very disinterested in anyone. I realize the majority of their patrons are probably half drunk, sun burnt entitled vacationers but nevertheless we were nice and not needy and still had a bad experience. The fish dishes were all not seasoned and lacked flavor overall. Not expecting an islander Gordon Ramsey culinary experience however just salt would’ve been nice. Everyone at the table has different things and some appetizers and all had the same issue: no flavor. It was also pretty pricey for not a lot of food. Stick with the burgers and fries here. One person who came with us ordered that and loved it. The mango local beer was the best thing we had there. The vibe is fun as there is a bar and it’s all open air and right on the beach and you can eat there in your bathing suit but the restaurant across the beach just opened - their food (we had a small appetizer there) was much better and their prices were better. I’d say take the extra 4 minutes of a walk and eat there if you are planning on eating while at Baby Beach in Aruba. Or bring your own snacks to the beach and save your $ altogether.

Visiting Big Mama's Grill at Baby Beach, Aruba, was an absolutely delightful experience! The food here is nothing short of spectacular. Each dish is crafted with care and bursts with incredible flavors that leave you wanting more. The oxtail, in particular, is truly amazing – tender, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. It's a dish that you simply must try. The staff at Big Mama's Grill are incredibly friendly and attentive, making sure every guest feels welcomed and well taken care of. Their warm smiles and exceptional service truly enhance the overall dining experience. Everything is superbly organized, allowing guests to fully relax and enjoy their time at the beach. Baby Beach itself is a slice of paradise – soft sands, crystal-clear waters, and a serene atmosphere perfect for unwinding. What's even better is the range of activities available. You can rent everything you need for a perfect beach day, from snorkeling gear to explore the vibrant underwater life, to a comfortable beach bed with a beautiful beach tent for some shade and extra comfort. In summary, Big Mama's Grill at Baby Beach offers not just a meal, but a complete, memorable beach experience. It’s a must-visit spot in Aruba for anyone looking to enjoy fantastic food, exceptional service, and the stunning beauty of Baby Beach.

If I could leave 0 stars I would, this place was the worst place we went on the island. I guess the theme was kind of cute, it was Flintstones, but the chairs were so massive and heavy I could not move mine, the waiters and waitresses all looked miserable because of their costumes they had to wear and how hot it was. We stopped here to grab a quick drink before hitting up Baby beach, this place is right on the beach. We got there and nobody told us to sit down or wait so we just went to the bar and asked for water, they gave us bottled water and charged us for it! The only place on the island where we were charged for water! And it wasn't even chilled. Then we ordered our drinks, my boyfriend got a margarita on the rocks which was very sweet and "on the rocks" apparently means throw 3 ice cubes in the glass. I ordered a frozen one and it was the most disgusting drink I have ever had. It was so overly sour that it made my teeth hurt and my stomach feel like it was eating itself... I politely asked for them to just make me one on the rocks because it was at least better than the frozen. The lady then told me that she can't replace my drink, that they will just charge me for another one. I was very polite about it, just taken-aback because I have never been told that they will charge me for remaking a drink that they made poorly or wrong, anywhere. But that's what happened, my boyfriend ended up downing it because I was getting sick from the amount of sour in it, and he said there wasn't even any alcohol in it! Like not even a trace, it was ridiculous, and I don't want someone else to feel so annoyed or disappointed or just over all...

One of the Worst Dining Experiences We’ve Ever Had

We travel often and dine out regularly, especially living in New York where good service is the norm—but this restaurant gave us one of the worst service experiences of our lives. From the moment we walked in, it felt like the staff didn’t care. No greeting, no warmth, nothing.

Our waiter looked like he had just rolled out of bed—his uniform was wrinkled, and he seemed completely uninterested in being there. When my husband ordered a Tequila Sunrise and then immediately asked if the waiter had a drink recommendation instead, he replied, “Tequila Sunrise, because that’s what I already wrote down.” Unbelievable.

The menu was extremely limited, which we could have worked with if the service or experience made up for it—but it didn’t. The food arrived fairly quickly, but our drinks came after the food. My piña colada was literally leaking all over the table. No one noticed or offered to fix it.

To top it all off, when we asked for the check, we waited 20 minutes before I finally got up and walked over to the cashier myself. Even then, they gave us the wrong bill and had to correct it.

We always tip generously—usually 20% or more—but for the first time in our lives, we left zero. That’s how bad the service was.

Do yourself a favor and skip this place. Plenty of other restaurants nearby that actually care about...
