Michel's American Diner — Restaurant in Steenwijkerland

Watch out!

This place is one of the worst you can go in Steenwijk. Firstly, they don't even ask you if you want to order when you come in, you have to ask it yourself.

When they finally take your order, it will take longer for the food to come than for the food to be eaten, digested and excreted. All the food tastes like it was made in a morgue, frozen and reheated in a microwave.

The burgers were bland, the ribs were like cardboard and the fries were drenched in oil. On top of that they didn't even give us all of the food we paid for. We were missing a sandwich around our fried cheese. No salad with the plate and one large fries missing.

On top of all this the food wasn't cheap at all, they make you pay almost twenty euros for a plate of frozen fries and frozen ribs you can make at home for less than a homeless man's rent.

Don't go here, don't even think about it. Michel's Diner shouldn't even be one of the options. The staff will make fun of you when you complain and you will leave feeling like a failure and your...

Great food when it finally came. We arrived at 18:00 on Friday and got no attention at all for a long time. After it looked like we needed to go order at the counter, which was not at all obvious, (during which a couple also arrived and left without ordering) it still took another hour for the food to come at about 19:15. The staff were clearly very very busy but it would have been a lot easier to bear if we'd received some attention or some apology for the wait. Even a little note on the table (in Dutch would be fine) to go order at the counter would have helped, as would an expectation and apology...

For a simple typical Dutch snack and meal place go to Michel’s in Steenwijk. It’s very affordable they’ve got ice cream and milk shakes too.

They’ve got a jukebox that doesn’t function (just for show). Posters of James Deen and Marilyn Monroe all over the place. American diner seats and all that. It’s a piece of America in one restaurant. Fun for a snack or a...
