Museumhuis Rams Woerthe — Attraction in Steenwijkerland

Rams Woerthe actually consists of two museums: in the basement there is the Hildo Krop Museum, dedicated to the ceramics collection of this Amsterdam City Sculptor (1884-1970) and the bel etage floor, dedicated to the recently restored Jugendstil/Art Nouveau interior. Both venues are unique and well worth a visit. For people who love Amsterdam the Hildo Krop museum is a must: He sculpted many bridge decorations at the beginning of the 20th century. The Jugendstil bel etage has a special kind of magic. The volunteers who are effective here know how to create a grand bourgeois atmosphere. This is quite peculiar when you get to know more about the political convictions of the sculptor Hildo Krop. Really lovely house museum. The first rooms are splendid until is the staircase. And the staff is very friendly and very unusually you are invited to sit down on the furniture and even to open drawers and closets. And on top of that you may even get served a cup of tea for free in the winter garden. And don’t forget the huge and lovely park with roaming deer. With the park plan at least for two hours. Complete surprise. A beautiful palace with art decó and other styles from the early 20th century, with a gorgeous state and a museum about the main sculptor of the city of Amsterdam. Run by willing volunteers that obviously love what they do. It's possible to learn a bit about restoration, and they also served me a free coffee with a dry waffel cookie in the lovely winter garden.
