We stayed at the hotel and the restaurant. This is a beautiful restaurant with only a few hotel rooms, and because of this, the service and hospitality was really good. We were greeted with smiles and taken to our room with a small explanation of how to use things or if there were any allergies that had to be kept in mind. I myself have a nut and stone fruit allergy, and I only mentioned it once at the check-in. I couldn’t fault how much attention to detail they had regarding this. The room came with a stunning breakfast, this was also prepared specially regarding allergies. The breakfast had a great selection and this was a perfect start to the morning, such warm and friendly staff to accompany. The breakfast included fresh cuts, bread, croissants, spreads, and more. We stayed at the restaurant for dinner and we had 3 courses, we couldn’t fault the food and the service, again attention to detail to my allergies and for me, this has been the best service I have ever experienced. The hotel and restaurant is so very cozy. We would definitely come back again.

Wow - just wow! Our visit to "De Smulpot" actually opened my eyes and made me learn how impressive and good spare ribs actually can be. Really: it was a pleasure and a true experience having those spare ribs and I can strongly recommend them to anyone! Skip those "all you can eat spare ribs" offers you can get somewhere else on Texel and really just get them once at De Smulpot - you won't regret. And no, you won't be hungry afterwards. Other than that the Burger my girlfriend had was quite amazing, too. Last but not least: we really liked the atmosphere and the kindness of the service. It's higher-class service, really professional without being too distant. Very personal and welcoming. We'll definitely come back! Our #1 reason to visit Texel!

Every once in a while you stay at a hotel that is so incredibly nice that you hesitate to write an honest review of it, for fear that it will be "discovered." The Smulpot is such a place, but I'm going to risk "discovery" to provide this review.||The Smulpot is a tremendous value. We were welcomed by "Nancy," one os the owners. She did everything she could to meet all of our needs, always with a smile and great enthusiasm. Our room, which looked out on the street, was large by Dutch standards and furnished with everything we needed. Wifi connected quickly and worked well throughout our stay.||The hotel is located right in the heart of Den Burg, with lots of restaurant and shopping options nearby. The hotel also operates its own restaurant, which was clearly popular with the locals and served great food. The complimentary breakfast was superb, with guests having an individual table loaded with food specially set up for just for them. The hotel is also a quick five-minute walk from the island transit bus, which provides service to the ferry to the mainland.||Our room was on the third floor. The hotel has no elevator, but hotel staff offered to carry our luggage to and from the room. The hotel is located across the street from an historic church. The church bells chime on the hour and half hour throughout the night, but we quickly go used to that.||This hotel was one of four we stayed at during our Dutch vacation. It was both the best in terms of quality and the cheapest in terms of price, thus a great value. We would be happy to stay...

Our first time on Texel and we picked De Smulpot for our 4 night's stay. Couldn't have been better. It's a restaurant with about 8 beautiful new rooms on top. Entrance is at the back of the restaurant, and as we arrived quite late, it was a bit odd to squeeze through that very busy place with our luggage. But no-one cared and it seemed normal. We had a room on the 2nd floor, and once you've passed the 2 flights of stairs, you enter your sanctuary. We had a lovely, beautiful modern room, great bathroom, all generous size, and spotlessly clean. Our friend's room looked very similar. There is a mini bar with water and a bottle of wine for free, tee/coffee making facility and a safe. We had the windows to the church side, and yes, some days the bells ring even at night, but we slept so well in our huge comfy bed, it didn't bother us. We ate twice at De Smulpot restaurant and the foid was excellent. Breakfast is awe some here: it's all presented on the table for each group or couple, so as we were 4, we had a big table and heaps of food. They bring freshly made fried eggs or ham and egg cooked in a muffin mould, freshly squeezed orange juice, smoothie and yoghurt with berries and a fruit skewer. Staff is awesome and super friendly and the location is perfect in the middle of Den Burg. We parked our car near the tennis place, 5min away on foot. That's free parking and we had the e-vignette anyway. We will come back here. Texel is beautiful and De...
