al-Maclaa — Restaurant in Tilburg

The staff is kind and friendly. The place is quiet and clean. All the walls are white and plain. You really lack an oriental touch, you don't feel inside a Moroccan restaurant, rather inside a normal flat, this we didn't like it a lot. They need to make the place more cozy. The food.... Well, yes it was GOOD, but very far from the delicious Moroccan typical dishes. One thing which I really didn't like, is that all the food is VERY SPICY... but they didn't tell me and it wasn't written in the menu!! Also, my VEG tajine was almost 18 euro: I was expecting onions, zucchini, carrots and an explosion of tastes and vegetables (& maybe a bit of couscous??)... It was rather disappointing: a bunch of pieces of chopped carrots and beans and a small potato. That's it. I can't say it was bad, but it was extremely over priced for what I ate. I general, the food is not bad, but nothing special/too expensive for what you get. I would not go back or recommend...

Restaurant with traditional Moroccan food. The food is different then what is generally available at restaurants in Tilburg. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I ordered tajine with beef meatballs, the dish was served with pita bread and lots of olives. The dish was nice. There is a variety of dishes available and the food is Halal. Vegetarian options are also available. Prices are typical for a speciality restaurant in Tilburg. The restaurant has two sections, the one further from the entrance is reserved for families and group of ladies for extra privacy if they want that. The prayer room for the restaurant is under construction. Overall a nice experience. This a good place to come with...
