Bapsang BBQ — Restaurant in Utrecht

NOT recommended! Not an authentic Korean bbq! Its Chinese self proclaim Korean. There are better Korean restaurants out there. The meat quality are so so, staff service are rude, not friendly and unprofessional, Difficult to communicate in Dutch nor English. The BBQ grill doesn heat up well even at highest heat set at 360°c , the result is mild heat our food turned out soggy. Our neighbours table noticed the problems of our grill too. We ended waited 45 minutes for first round food to cook. Usually a squid will cook in 5.minutes but we lost 30 minutes. We informed the waitress problem with our grill. We then wait for a solution and we lost 1 hour time to get the squid and meat cooked. We request to change table not to waste more time to experiment as her suggestion. The men owner said there are 100 grill tables in this restaurant, however there are no free table available when the restaurant is still half empty. We lost our time and energy coming over for an unpleasant situation. Owner and waitress doesnt listen to the problem but stands on their rights eith disbelief. Situation was witnessed by two neighbours that table our grill indeed wasnt functioning well as it should. Shamely the chinese owner and four waitresses ended up yelling at us (customer) and suggest to refund us money back instead, while we requested to move to another table for a solution to have a functioning grill. We have the money, we did not request for refund. While the restaurant owner was arranging to refund us money back, funny enough a young waitress name Lulu came to remove our drinks with a reason they are arranging refund. Shame on this young chinese lady (round sour face name Lulu).

On our way home, we ended up got into diarrhoea as we think its because the meat is not well heated, not fully cooked as the grill is in low power ! NVWA please investigate this restaurant if it has met Dutch food safety.

Heads up, for 2 hours booking you could rarely eat peacefully when the grill isnt functioning, you need to pickup your own buffet, cook your food and wait wait till it cook. The Kimchi doesn't taste like Kimchi but covered with lots of red pepper powder marinates, the marinated meat doesn't taste as Korean but more as Eastern European snd European fusion. Bibimbap serves at buffet counter served in a small bowl, you need to request them to cook and takes 15 minutes waiting time. Tteok-bokki are soggy and tasteless. The buffet choices are limited. Help your self like in a stressful canteen.

Sorry its not my go to place, dont pay for such unpleasant unprofessional services that serves fake...

It is going to be some long review. In summary: Price started 41,95 EUR per adult. It is indeed a bit high, but the wide array of food is prepared is exceptional. Most importantly, the great amount of Korean drinks are just awesome. Good place, good service! Worth the price and recommended for you to go! Position still a bit challenge for people with no personal auto. Suitable for big group also.

In more details: Booking procedure is easily done via google maps. They also readily respond to you when requested. From the payment and registration, I believe they can improve by having one line for people with reservations and another for non-reservation.

They have spacious places, it would be great if you can be seated near the food. The cooking bbq for meat is great since they have custom made stoves. I didnt take the picture, but they have internal fan that suck the smoke.

Food variations are bomb. As you can see in my pictures, they have sushi, meat for bbq, and korean soups. Not to mention, the deep fry products and desserts options. However, with quantity, you cannot ask for a high premium quality flavor. Taste was 6-7/10

Lastly, service for impeccable. They will change the oil and paper on top of stove once in a while. Will take your plates in swift manner also.
