Just left the bar speechless with the rudeness of one of their waitresses. I had one first beer, which she brought quickly after we arrived. I finished my beer and while waiting to see if she or anyone else could see I would like to have a second, I raised my hand once to her. Unknowingly she had seen it or not since she didn't nod at me, I raised again when she passed by. She came to me with an unfriendly face and said "don't wave at me, please". I was speechless. How am I supposed to get the attention of a waiter in a crowded bar? By waiting patiently half hour until they spot my empty glass and realize I would want another beer?
I felt horrible. Like if I committed a crime or something. I apologized and asked how should I have called her attention then. She replied saying I should have waited because she had "other people to serve too", like if that wasn't obvious and I didn't know that. I only waved a second time because I didn't know she saw it. It's not like I was snapping my fingers in a snobbish way. Her reaction was completely uncalled for and ruined my time there.
I was planning to spend a long evening there enjoying their good beers. But left at 19:30 and going to Maximus now. Much...
Read moreThis review is purely from the perspective of someone who has to travel 1.5hrs to get to the location.
It's alright. The location is a bit annoying to get to but the building itself is really large and nice. Lots of room for different groups, dog friendly, lots of games and decor.
As of this review, they no longer offer a monthly changing menu with different courses like the previous location. The menu is static and categorised by the time of day. Seems to be sandwiches during the day and after 17:00 you can order some classic pub food like burgers, hotdogs and fries, and some sharing plates of not so standard pub food. But it's really nothing like the previous location's kitchen which was a huge reason to visit Oproar and Utrecht.
The sour beers we're alright 6/10.
Hopefully when they are comfortable at the new location they will bring back the previous concept but I probably wouldn't go out of my way to visit again until that happens.
For locals, I can imagine Oproar is a great spot to hang out, drink some beer and have some pub food and I would definitely visit more often if I was a local. The food is...
Read moreI visited this place and ordered the full 3 course menu and two beers to go along side my food and I do not regret it to this day. Their food is amazing and it is very clear that the chefs know what they are doing. They do not seem to be afraid to experiment a bit and luckily I would say they are pretty good at it too. All their food is vegan as far as I know and it tastes incredible. Their beers are also good but they also offer some that are not their own for those wanting a more classical brew. The lighting in the restaurant could use some work though and it was also a bit chilly when I was there. Actually the atmosphere in general wasn't super cozy and reminded me somewhat of Berlin because of the raw and untreated concrete walls with grafitti and such. All in all it was still a great...
