Restaurant 't Gesprek — Restaurant in Wageningen

We've visited 't Gesprek about twice a year since 2009. It's always been a cozy place with good food and a pleasant atmosphere. The hostess is a good humoured lady who makes you feel welcome. It is such an incredible shame that the service level has dropped and we left disappointed with our experience the last two times we visited. Everything took so long and went so slowly both times. We had to wait 45 minutes before we could even order anything. This makes a simple 3 course meal last over 4 hours, leaving you with an empty table for most of that time. Overall I think the restaurant deserves 3 stars.

1 star is given to the food itself. The food is quite ok, nothing’s exceeded expectation. Good value for money.

1 star is given to the location, easy to navigate and it has a parking lot.

Last star is given to the service. They provide menu in Dutch and English, however, the 2 menu’s are not the same. It seems that the English menu is missing an entire page compared to the Dutch version.

The food was a complete gastromic experience. Traditional Dutch food served with a twist of modern cuisine. Unlike many Dutch restaurants, it had excellent wines. It does deserve the Michelene star that it has had since 2012, every year until 2017. The service was just the right amount of nice, polietly asking withiut being pushy.

If you are looking for a fancy yet cozy, traditional yet modern restaurant, visit this place.
