The taste of the food is amazing—the chili oil is truly the best of the best among all the Chinese-Indonesian restaurants I’ve tried in the Netherlands.
The Koe Loe Yuk (known as Kuluyuk in Indonesia) was a little different from what I’m used to. My family also runs an F&B business in Indonesia, and my mum always reminded me that every chef has their own style, so I was never allowed to criticize food—she even forbade me! 😅 So please take this not as criticism, but simply as a personal impression: the Kuluyuk had a thicker batter than I expected, almost like deep-fried banana balls.
When it comes to rice, I tend to have very high standards. Here, the rice felt a bit more like plain white rice, and I personally missed the delicate, slightly sticky texture of Pandan or Jasmine rice that adds fragrance and flavor to Asian meals.
