We live in the area since a bit longer than a year and most of the times that we wanted to go for a beer, we ended up in this pub. Gezellig! There's a terrace on the back, my favorite spot on summer. You can also jump down straight from your boat because it faces the Zaan! Waiters are always friendly, patient and popping out at the right moment. Food is great! You can also do a high wine or a high beer with super tasty bites! I think tonight we are going again 😋

The food was stunning , and for the quality remarkably affordable. The staff were accommodating to us English speakers. Only warning is the kitchen may be serving too many to let you order food, however I believe this to be a price for quality and individual attention given to each dish. I had the prawn starter and chips and both were mouth watering and incredibly filling. The photos posted don’t even give the food justice (my photo isn’t much better :,))

My wife and I chose to go to de Toog "the Bar" because it was a short walk from our hotel in Koog and de Zan. It turns out that it is a very trendy, reservation only restaurant. The back patio is right on the canal by a drawbridge. We only got a seat because we were early and agreed to give the table up when the couple who had reserved it were scheduled to be there. Their English was very good, and they had an English version of their menu.

Very nice and cozy. Not a tourist's joint. A really nice escape from the bustling city of Amsterdam and really close (walking distance) to the world famous windmills and the magic atmosphere of Zaanse Schanze. It is open all day and you breath the atmosphere of a real dutch-style cafe'. Open everyday and all day. Great for breackfast, brunch, coffee, lunch and dinner. Great selection of beers as well. Absolutely recommended. I dare anyone walking out...

A nice place to spend an afternoon, either for drinks or lunch. The service is good and the staff are frieldly and very welcoming. Family run business located just a bit outside of Zaandam towards the famouse Zaanche schaan. 1 of the best cappuccino coffee we had is here. The sizes of the food are very generous.
