Darjeeling Restaurant Krommenie — Restaurant in Zaanstad

Highly recommended to give this new place a go. We went to try it out on a Sunday evening and very much enjoyed it. The staff were very friendly and the food was of a good standard.

Really happy to have a place nearby with good Indian and Nepalese cuisine! I no longer have to look to Koog aan de Zaan or Zaandam for my fix :) We had dahl soup (lentil soup) and onion bhaji for starters – both tasty, especially the bhaji, which was delicious and had perfectly crispiness to the coating (something that many places get wrong in NL).

For main meal, we shared a portion of butter chicken and rice, with 2 garlic naan breads. Firstly, the naan bread is top level here and a perfect accompaniment. We were kindly asked how spicy we would like the butter chicken and opted to go medium. It was perfect, and I might even dare to go a bit spicier next time :)

Nice beer selection too, with Cobra, Kingfisher, and Gorkha on the menu, alongside Heineken and Texels on tap.

Although it was already two weeks ago, I had to write a review to share the great experience we had. We ordered the Mixed tandoori and Darjeeling Royal Khan's set. Both mild in spiciness. The tandoori meat were all juicy and well marinated. The butter chicken was rich of flavour. And all other dishes tasted as authentic as it should be. Mango lassi was not too sweet and a great drink to go with the spicy food. The staff were friendly and helpful. We are small eaters, so we asked for a doggy-pack. The staff packed everything for us and the next day we had a great lunch. Darjeeling is our first choice for Indian and Nepalese food...

Insanely good food! This restaurant has only been open about 2 months or so and already is becoming one of our favourites. Plenty of options got vegetarian and meat eaters, authentic Indian and Nepalese food and the chef was happy to make it spicier or milder based in our tags taste. Everything was fresh, delicious and portion sizes were good. The desserts tasted like they were created from scratch and not just bought from supermarket then served.
