Eemhof Watersport & Beachclub — Restaurant in Zeewolde

Saw the reviews on maps and suggested my family to try it for lunch. We were more than pleasantly surprised. The food was delicious, also good portion size and very fair prices aswell. I have food allergies, but they were very accommodating for this. I also want to give a big thank you to our waiter Nicolas (I hope is spelled it correctly), he was super friendly gave us excellent service!

The Restaurant itself was nicely decorated, both inside and outside, with a serene view of the water and the occasional boat passing by.

The food we had was: chicken club sandwich: maybe an easier to melt cheese would of been better but great juicy chicken with pesto highly recommend. sandwich scrambled egg salmon: no shortage of salmon here sandwich katsu chicken: very juicy and crispy chicken the Japanese way on a nice coleslaw bed very good poke bowl chicken: was good, no remarks Beach burger: the patty was a bit too thick, more like a ball instead of a regular burger but the meat itself was good and the toppings and sauce...

Nice watersports club though our visit was in November, not exactly the hay days for water-related sports. Still worth a visit because the ferry boat to Bunschoten/Spakenburg moors here. The service is good, clean and punctual. In about 20 mins you are in the Old Harbor and you get a nice view of the Eemmeer, part of the IJmeer which came to be after the mighty Zuiderzee was dammed in the early 1900s. In summer it is very nice to have a walk along the yacht haven and get refreshments in the club. In winter, though, the wind can be quite strong and cold - if you fancy a walk dress accordingly. Also nice-to-know for winter visits: the ferry schedule is reduced to two days a week (market day is still covered) instead of daily and the number of return journeys are also fewer. Nice looking place with great views of the river and beach area, but don't come here expecting great service or food. Though our bottle of wine arrived within a minute or two of ordering, our food took almost an hour and the starter we'd ordered didn't arrive at all. First of all neither of the meals we'd ordered were available so we both had to reorder a second choice. And while my chicken satay was okay, the chips tasted like they's been sat under a heat lamp since we'd placed our order, and my husband's steak was at best mediocre. It was the first time I'd ever witnessed anyone order a steak and NOT be asked how they would like it cooked, so I guess we shouldn't have been surprised.
