Definitely the biggest surprise of 4 days in Zutphen. A stylish bar in the center of Zutphen, sort of art deco style with a rich use of stained glass in the decoration of the lamps on the walls and the ceiling. 10 Euro for 3 courses. But only during daytime. It's kind of a social project as the people working there have a disability. We paid our bill, nearly 20 Euro, but when I got back to my place, I realized, they forgot one day meal. I insisted on paying this part too, but they encountered big problems to enter it in their cash register and suggested to give it away for free. Which I couldn't accept given the friendly and fast service, the quality of the meals, the low prices and the great interior. No alcoholic beverages! No music, only the gentle sound of normal conversations. But still 100%...

Pleasant atmosphere, simple hearty food, budget-friendly and kid-friendly menu. Unfortunately some older diners love to smoke right at the entrance, so you can't escape the strong cigarette smoke smell even if you're indoors. Na een jaar lang hier niet te zijn geweest, een bezoekje gebracht. Verlangde naar koffie, de beroemde appeltaart en veel kranten. De bestelling kwam. De eerste nip van de koffie was veelbelovend. Al jarenlang Smit en Dorlas koffie. Pittig, veel beter dan een jaar geleden. Mogelijk omdat de volautomaat volgens mij nu verdwenen is en er nu een barista machine staat. Mijn veklaring. Toen kwam de appeltaart. Zag er veelbelovend uit en smaakte best goed, maar er mistte wel iets. Lang zitten piekeren en aan het eind wist ik het. De walnootjes waren verdwenen!! De medewerkster noemde dat kleiner geworden, maar ik trof echt geen splintertje aan. Aaaj, dat was schrikken. Hier is het recept van Henk de Bree aangepast. Het is daarmee helaas een minder onderscheidend taartje geworden. Jammer. Waarom...
