Ashby Roast and Takeaway — Restaurant in Ōrākei

As a British person who has eaten a lot of roasts and is quite picky, this meal was really good for the price. Lovely gravy, the mash is so creamy and had a good portion of chicken even for a small.

We recently moved nearby to this takeaway, and thought we'd give it a go. We got a large roast pork dinner, and I have to say we were bitterly disappointed. First, it was very expensive when compared to their competitors. Secondly, the meat was tough (to the point that my wife found it basically inedible). Thirdly, the quantity served was no where as generous as others, with the kumera almost being invisible it was so small. Different owners from the 90s and early 00s so food is alot different now :( Roast meals are okay but the cheeseburgers and roast pork rolls are obviously a different standard/technique to what made this place unique and famous back in the days.
