Booked as had been recommended due to their vegan options including pizzas, turns out the restaurant runs as two separate venues and the pizzas and vegan options are for the outside area, was given the option to move outside but it was windy and rainy so stayed inside. Waitress told us that most dishes can be made vegan, I think that would be just giving you the dish minus the meat though as most dishes were centred around the meat. It’s one of those, we can make it vegan by removing the most expensive part of the dish, replacing it with nothing and charging you the same. I had a pasta dish, with the goats cheese removed, it was okay, but very expensive for what it was at $34. If you are a meat eater it’s probably okay, but if you’re considering this restaurant as a vegan from the recommendations on happy cow etc, maybe only go if the weather is fine and you want to sit outside, because the inside restaurant isn’t worth it unless you eat animals. They do have a decent range of beers to choose from, and they are available in a British imperial pint size, which was pleasing as a...

This comment has to do primarily with the quantity, quality and price of meals (snack portions) at lunch. Travelling to different countries regularly I am able to say that something is definitively wrong with resturants in Kerikeri: In NZ, specifically Kerikeri and specifically P &F portion sizes have been cut by 2. Its not a meal it is a snack. Reducing on ingrediants. Salads lack ingrediants and Pizza was a snack and had no tomato sauce. Pricing are much higher than Paris, Amsterdam. In Paris at noon you get starter, main plate and 1 glass of wine for 22 euros, full plate. At P& L small pizza and extra small salade for 32NZ $. I come to NZ yearly so i am very surprized by what I am seeing happening and how the locals are exposed to these increase in costs, decrease in quantity and decrease in quality. In addition their is no service, place order at cashier and pick up your meal at counter.

All this for 69NZ$: 2 salades, 1 pizza, 2 diet cokes. Price per person was: 34.50nz$ or 20euros.

I think that P & L should review its menu, it is not to the...

I took my husband there for his birthday, I was so disappointed. We had booked a table prior and when we got there we got placed in a corner whilst everyone else sat out side on the veranda. I asked for a table outside and got told yes by the lovely waitress and then no by the male waiter, he explained that he had given it to someone that booked specifically a table outside, I asked so when u travel like we had and don’t know about those options u just get given a corner seat?! He began to say yes well they booked. I said to him we had too and that it’s my husband’s birthday. 15 min later we where moved to squished little deck table, my hubby ordered a beer, the lady bought us water and forgot the beer. Also the pork belly was cooked Devine but spoiled by the over powering soy sauce. So all and all it was a bad decision for my husbands birthday. I’m not a racist person either but I really felt brown and not worthy at this place, and I am a tanned Māori with green eyes that had driven all the way...

We had an awesome meal. We did a bit of everything but unfortunately could not fit in the lamb shoulder. We saw it at other tables and it looked awesome and the looks on people's faces confirmed it was probably great. However...... We did have octopus, the best brocoli we have ever had, travali sushimi (yum yum yum), beef croquettes to rival Spain (if you have ever had then there you know what i mean). We also had the lager, the saison (they let you try the beer first which was helpful as they have a great range) and the temperanillo red (delicious) The owner has his own winery / brewery and after trying the beers and wines during dinner, we are going to check that out. Its called Kainui. Its not a cheap place but very cheap for the quality of everything and the service was also awesome as was the view and restaurant. Go there!

Date: 28/12/23. On holiday from Wellington and staying in Waipapa we decided we wanted to have a nice dining experience so we booked online and was seated at a nice table with views of the river, the Old Stone House and the Wharewaka. Frontline service was great, fantastic table service - quick and professional. We had venison and octopus for starters, excellent and couldn’t decide which one we loved more! We paired our meal with some lovely red wine - Kanui Tempranillo and Syrah. For dinner my partner had the hapuka (fish) & I had the Thai Chicken. Yum yum yum! Full of flavour and gorgeous plating. Dessert was steam pudding and chocolate mousse - delicious! We watched the meals come out and it appears to be something for everyone ! Highly recommend, you won’t be disappointed and money well spent.

This is place is absolutely ripping people off, we ordered ( $ 28 ) fish and chips and ( $ 26 ) Chicken burger and we waited 40 Minutes!!! for our food while just a few people inside the restaurant. When i was asking one of the staff a old lady about the time and she teach me and this is her own word “ We have to cook every individual part of the burger and a burger don’t takes 5 minutes to cook. ” Well guess what, When u guys present me this 2 Overcooked toasts with KFC like coleslaw , dry chicken and ginger tasted pickles, I for sure will choose Macca’s 5 minutes cheese burger because that is better! Fish and chips looks like $ 10 fish and chips from the street and this meal is definitely not worth this much! Nice view around the lake but PEOPLE BRING YOUR OWN FOOD ! ! !
