So lucky we have somewhere like this in the Bay of Islands. The setting is beautiful. Set on the edge of the tropical garden. Feels like you're in Bali or somewhere tropical (if you sit outside, we have never sat inside, haha) The kai is always a journey! We don't come here often because we live out of Keri, but when we do, it's always amazing! You pay for what you get, and it's worth it! It's now our anniversary spot for dinner!! The flavours are so good. The concepts look like they won't work, but they really do, and it's a place that allows you to try kai that might be a bit out of your comfort zone. Everything is seasonal. Our meal was off the summer menu. You can tell the chef puts in a lot of time and effort to perfect his art, and he loves what he does. Or if he hates it and wants to retire, we can't tell. 😅 Staff are always friendly and happy. We are always welcomed like we are seasoned diners. Laughs are had.

This restaurant is a breath of fresh air, tucked away in the bush made the ambiance superb. This was a very comfortable place to dine out, with exceptional staff that provided a wonderful dining experience. We ordered their version of lemon, lime and bitters that we highly recommend and a watermelon daiquiri for drinks. Both very refreshing and delicious. We ordered the wagyu beef brisket ramen, which was full of flavour, the beef just melts in your mouth. The broth and ramen was sublime. The chips were accompanied by a rich creamy chilli sauce that added a wonderful kick. The eggplant and prawn dish was an explosion of different flavours that worked well together. For dessert, the creme brulee was light and creamy, easy to finish after a very filling meal. Overall, a delightful experience that I would recommend to family and friends. Go to Maha if you are stopping in at Kerikeri.

We dined here tonight and have to say the food was really disappointing. The staff are great and the location is lovely but sadly, that is where it ended. We waited over an hour for our mains to come out and it was barely warm when it arrived. We ordered the fusion platter containing pork belly, fried chicken, seafood salad and some vegetables. The pork belly was hard but not crispy, although the flavour was ok, it was all from the sauce rather than the meat itself. The fried chicken had a dirty oil taste and was dry. The seafood salad was ok - nothing special. The mash potatoes tasted strongly of mayonnaise and was far too lumpy. The vegetables were bland. Overall, for $99, this was a very disappointing experience and we will not be returning. We were not asked how the food was at any point and no apology for the delay despite paying $146 :(

Tucked away in a tropical forest which has always been a fav location. How ever food is incredibly over priced with very small serving size. We spent a lot of money only to leave hungry. Ended up getting take out from another restaurant after spending a small fortune here. Bowl of fries was around around 10 in a bowl for more than double the price of what is considered normal in kerikeri.. Expensive fish meal had a sliver of fish for around the $40 price tag which was the size of an appetiser. I am happy to spend good money at a restaurant and am used to going out for fine dining but never have I ever had to go buy more food after eating out! If your with a group and want to share a bunch of small platters then this would be a good little spot if you want to splurge. Maybe for a night out with drinks it would be nicer. If you have kids you may find it hard finding food for them on the menu. I used to love this restaurant, the staff are always nice , but price point is a bit off for...

What a treat! It was one of those horrible freezing damp cold nights in the winterless north, however the welcome to this comfortable and creative space could not have been warmer. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience. Diane's personal and super friendly service was much appreciated, she knows the menu inside and out, and can recommend just the right wine match from the thoughtfully curated list. We loved the menu, and that local products (e.g., Paroa Bay oysters) were featured and enhanced with some exciting fusion flavours. We ordered the tasting platter available on Wednesdays, which meant we could sample chef Ming's skills across a variety of styles and flavours. I don't want to single anything out as it was all so good (including the coffee) however you won't regret leaving room for the creme brulee. This is NZ dining at its best - authentic Aotearoa creativity, quality and hospitality. We need to support our food artisans - I will...
