WOW and that’s just the beginning. What a spectacular restaurant, magnificent views, sensational food and THE best host. Esther We started the chefs suggestion of salmon and avocado and the oysters and then had the Crayfish Risotto and Kingfish Crudo It’s nice to see someone actually using the name crayfish instead of trying to upmarket it as Lobster! Oysters big and tasty with the raspberry vinaigrette The Risotto. I cannot begin to tell you how good it is. Made with a home made bisque and LOTS of crayfish pieces. It is sublime. I can’t remember ever having one as good! My partner had the Kingfish and it was equally as impressive as the Risotto We tried the “new desert “ Banana with chocolate Although the description sounds like an everyday dessert , trust me it’s not. Another must try. Our host for the evening ,Esther, was brilliant Can’t wait to go back again next time...

My husband and I dined at Sage for one of our last meals on New Zealand. Wow—what an amazing way to end our retirement trip to such a wonderful country. The evening at Sage is one that we will always remember and treasure. The drive takes a little while, but when you pull up to the restaurant, you will know that it was definitely worth it! Everything was superb—the view, the service, the wine, and the food! Every dish was amazing from the appetizers through dessert! The fish was some of the very best that we ate during our six weeks in New Zealand. If you are looking for a place to go for a special evening, you should definitely book a table at Sage and ask to sit at one of the outside tables! Sage--thank you for an...

Booked online, selected the optional platter, wine and complimentary Russell shuttle as a starter. Confirmed the day prior, called to check shuttle arrangements and emailed. Unfortunately on the day informed shuttle fully booked, Russells taxis weren’t operating and Sage were not flexible in accommodating us. Shame we missed out, we are sure it’s amazing. Have booked our in-laws as a Christmas present and hope they get a better experience. We did manage to get into the Duke of Marlborough who were extremely hospitable, seafood platter with Crayfish was delicious as was the Rose, with service that was unrivalled. From Auckland and trying to support local hospitality businesses in...

Exceptional location and Restaurant decor. Lovely drive from the Opua ferry. Arrived just before dusk and enjoyed a great view of the profile of the Island and mainland landscape against the sunset. Never really seen a menu with such variety. This is real class and lived up to its TV profile on Luxury Lodges. We had entrées of sourdough with White Prawns from Queensland and Pork Dumplings and a really nice hot soup. I had 12 hour cooked lamb ribs with dukkah coating and Sharlie had Nelson Salmon. Pinot Gris and Maude Pinot Noir went down very well. Price of meal was quite surprisingly reasonable. Highly recommended.
