While I was in the queue to be served, I noticed that there was only one pie (lamb) and one sausage roll left. An assistant was adding fresh rolls to the display and I asked her if there were any more pies, to which she replied no. I ordered the sausage roll and lamb pie and drinks; I received a buzzer for the drinks and a number for the food. After about 10 minutes, the buzzer sounded and I went and got the drinks. Some 20 minutes later our food had not arrived, so my wife went and asked if we'd been forgotten. A member of staff said it was a new system and it may have been mixed up. She was told to wait while it was prepared. After another 10 minutes my wife got fed up with waiting and came back to our table. 5 minutes later, our food turned up. My wife's lamb pie somehow turned into a steak and cheese one; strange, given that I was told that there were no more. It was also cold! In fact the grated cheese in the pie hadn't even melted. My sausage roll was fine, but I'd rather have had a pie. A compete farce. And they...

We arrived and ordered for four for breakfast - eggs, full breakfast, muesli and corn fritters.

The coffee came out quickly (though they had no cream for the long black) and it was good.

The food was another story. The muesli came out with no milk, hardly any yoghurt and no spoon (knife and Fork?). The corn fritters and big breakfast arrived so late that two of our four guests had finished their meals, when it finally arrived, the corn fritters were raw and doughy inside and being pregnant, I returned them to the kitchen to be cooked Properly as they would have raw Egg inside.

To my surprise, the chef did not cook them properly but sent them back out saying “that’s how they’re made”. After refusing to microwave them for me, we asked for a refund (which we received) and left.

Such a shame that a lovely location with a deep history is spoiled by poor hospitality operators with no love for their craft or pride in...

Having eaten here several times previously, I must say I was underwhelmed today. Coffee is no longer brought to the table but a buzzer alerts you to collect it and take it to your table yourself. I ordered a flat white which had a multi-coloured topping which might be fine for a 5 year old but wasn't appreciated myself. There were 6 of us. We waited far too long for our breakfasts, in the end we asked if we'd been forgotten as people who arrived after us were eating. Eventually breakfast was served, two at a time. Mine came without cutlery so I had to wait for my cutlery to arrive with the next two breakfasts. I ordered eggs bene, the toast was thick and not buttered. Not impressed. We were given complimentary pots of tea to compensate for the long wait for breakfast. There doesn't appear to be a kids menu any longer, nor...

15/8/23 Our whanau group of 14 had breakfast here for my daughter's 16th birthday. Prior to our arrival, a table for 14 people was set up so we could all sit together and they took our orders via email so our kai came shortly after we arrived and at the same time so we all ate together. Food was very delicious and well presented! Service was impeccable! Tino pai to mahi Reina & Reitu. Special mihi to Reitu for organizing a birthday cupcake for my daughter and taking photos of our group. One of the best breakfasts I've had, Highly recommended 5 stars 🌟 🌟🌟🌟🌟

While the cool breeze was pleasant after a hot walk, the service here wasn’t welcoming. Tea in a paper cup for $5..... milk poured on top the steeping tea with the string on the teabag acting as a siphon dripping tea on the table. No real cups today because of expected crowds... yet it wasn’t overly crowded. Cold water? “I don’t think we have any bottles or clean glasses.” I hope the servers were local youth who’ll gain experience, but training in friendliness and optimism might help. Food in the cabinet looked great!

Had a quick lunch here while visiting the treaty grounds. You order at the counter and they bring the food to you. The staff were friendly. The water is self serve, but they didn't have enough clean glasses for their guests. We got a seafood chowder and the burger. The chowder was just average and came with a garlic bread that was soaking wet with butter, making it inedible. The burger was dry and tough, and came with a side of fries that were also very basic and underwhelming.
