Great coffee but one staff member is possibly the rudest person in NZ. Our party of five was told we could not move two small tables togther despite there being several tables configured in pairs to seat six. "Its because of Covid" apparently. After waiting for a table for six to come free we were halfway though our drinks when we were told we had to hurry up and leave as there were others waiting for a table, there were three people about to order! I politely told her that we were still having our coffee's which we had been enjoying up to that point and would leave when we were finished. As i took my last sip she pounced again saying we have to leave now as we were finished and there were people waiting, again three people at the counter and there were other tables. This was just rude, she obviously was having a bad day and paying it forward! This behavior is totally uncalled for and not the type of person that should be in a customer...
Read more2nd time visiting and 2nd disappointment, should have learnt the 1st time. This last visit was eggs benny, the menu says streaky bacon (as you would expect) but turns up with 2 large slabs of shoulder bacon which was 1/2 fat anyway, an entire garden if spinach & a bucket of hollandaise sauce, worst breakfast I've been served, wifey had the rosti stack which was again not good, she was lucky and got 3 slabs of fatty shoulder bacon, 1/2 a tomato, 3 very small watery mushrooms which the rosti sat in the juices and went soggy... yum. Probably a good idea not to have that open slot where you can watch the cook making the food while waiting in line to be served, felt sorry for the customer who got the frozen scallop salad, they would have been like rubber and the guy who's toasted sandwich was on the hotplate next to the scallops with the juices running on to it from the melting ice covering the scallops, there won't be a...
Read moreSecond time this week I have dined at this cafe. On the first occasion there was an almost 30minute gap between receiving my food and receiving my coffee. Today I arrived at 11:30am, to beat the lunchtime crowd. There was a small queue of people but there appeared to be a reasonable number of staff on duty. It took me half-an-hour at least to order my food. The main issue, from my observation, is that the staff themselves contribute to the slow service by spending far too long with each customer who is placing their order.
