Glenview Club — Restaurant in Hamilton

We had my daughters wedding at the club Oct 4th 2014. It poured, stormed and was basically horrendous outside but we were snug in the club restaurant and River lounge. What a fantastic night - helped by the venue, staff and restaurant. The meal from John and his team was superb. Everyone - from the manager who was amazingly accommodating, bar staff ( who had their own difficulties but didn't let it effect our experience), kitchen crew, and even the cleaners who came the next day to tidy up... EVERYONE helped build an incredible event at an affordable price. We are SOOOO impressed and thankful for all that everyone did. This venue is under rated and needs some serious advertising as a great place to hold your function. The grounds gave us at least 3 great spots for a wedding, places for giant games outside as well as all indoors. Of course, for us, indoors was the ONLY option thanks to the stormy freezing front that came thru BUT, we were allowed to bring in tree branches and all manner of odd things to create what the bride and groom wanted to be surrounded by for their ceremony. Ok, I've rated the service, venue, support, courtesy van for guests to get home and photo opportunity spots outside ( gate, shed, trees etc) as 5 star. Yes, the venue is prob 3- 4 star and could do with a revamp/modernisation in décor BUT all this pales in significance when you have decorated it and then fill it with people, music etc. Don't look past it. We read the reviews for this place - cheap camping and a pub onsite, we thought it would be worth visiting. We were wrong! They apparently offer powered and unpowered, but all the powered sites are occupied by rude locals. The unpowered sites are just a patch of gravel on the club carpark. We went for a drink in the 'social' club and were met by stares and unhappy faces (apart from the barman - he was quite friendly). The drinks were overpriced and the amenities weren't great. My first visit here with a Friend who is a Member. Members and Staff were so welcoming which gave this Club the most beautiful, warm and friendly atmosphere. Service and Meals were excellent. For the Ladies.....the Ladies Toilets were absolutely spotless. My sincere thanks to all of you lovely people who made me feel so welcome. Keep up the great work all you who have clearly worked so hard to get this Club....literally..... to where it is today.😉 My Kindest...
