Today I am Writing a review for the poor customer service at The Hamilton Garden Cafe on Saturday the 24th July.

The staff were working really hard to serve everyone as fast as the could. But we waited in a line for 30mins. I ordered my food and afterwards heard the server say it was a 30minute wait for cabinet food to the next customer.

If I had been informed of this before I waited in a line and before i ordered I would not have ordered. I ended up waiting 40 mins for my cold roast cauliflower salad and a then the cheese toastie came out 50mins later and was cold still, and both we just saw sitting in the cabinet.

I was frustrated and would have asked for my money back but the staff were working hard and it’s was too busy to ask and I’d already waited and paid. I think you should have a sign outside the cafe that advertises the wait times.

Additionally one of the servers, serving customers was coughing and sniffing which I felt was inappropriate considering the pandemic.

I felt you should have not servesd/taken as many orders as you did not have enough staff and could not serve the current customers who have already ordered appropriately.

I will not be recommending your cafe to people...

We were expecting good service as the owners themselves were running the function. The female owner was extremely rude to members of our party and had awful customer service skills, also just a sour demeanor that was very off putting at an elderly person's birthday party. She didn't bother to clear any dessert dishes and made it seem as though she wanted us out of there so she could go home. Clearly unpolished glassware and cutlery, the front of house staff don't seem to do much, as all orders are made through the counter, and they don't bother to take dishes to the kitchen. Did not see the wait staff heading to the kitchen anywhere near as often as they should, they should constantly be in and out taking in dishes and bringing out food. Dishes are left dumped in big trays in the dining area, absolutely disgusting and terrible practice. Food was below average, muffins are worse than what you get from the supermarket. All in all, terrible service, rude owners and below average food. Do not book a function here. Bring your own food and drinks when you visit the Gardens for a much more...

We eat here when we visit the gardens with our grandsons who both have good appetites and the portions are large enough to satisfy them It is possible to have a gluten-free meal or a vegetarian one. If your appetite is smaller there are plenty of choice of portions such as salad croissant to suit you. A good selection of hot teas, coffees, and bottled drinks. There are bottles of cold water and glasses in the fridge for you to help yourself to at no cost. They cater for small folk too and it is a lovely place to eat looking out over the lake. You can either sit inside in the cool or in the small outside room or on the terrace. It does get rather busy so if you are a large party it is a good idea to book a table. Sometimes there is a waiting time for your cooked meal as everything is freshly cooked. The staff are pleasant and helpful and very attentive. There are easily accessible toilets which are kept in pristine condition.A wonderful place to eat for small or large groups in very pleasant...

Okay, this review isn't for the cafe itself. We ordered a picnic for which the cafe packed a great selection of food (that only those with the very biggest appetite might get through). All this in a lovely 'old school's picnic basket and blanket supplied. The atmosphere relates to the gardens - we were able to lay a blanket on the slopes by the lake under a tree... Hard to beat. The cafe itself is rather more ordinary. Service was great on the day - the staff appear to include many casual staff, so this will always be a bit variable, but I was there twice in two weeks with different staff on both occasions and they were all very friendly. The food itself isn't 'haute cuisine' but it was fresh and tasty and lots of variety... A bit like a home made picnic. The only thing I would highlight is that a lot of boxes were used to pack the food for two of us... Maybe an opportunity to improve sustainability a bit, but there is an argument that it may have been necessary for the variety.

We came in today a couple of times, it's nice enough. The place is great there's plenty of room and the spaces are roomy and comfy. Great place shame about the food. Hence the 3. So today we had the mushrooms on toast and fish and chips. The plates look wonderful except you can't fit many chips in the little basket. Let's be real! The fish. Could have been awesome but a little over cooked in oil that was a bit on the old side and needed changing. $23 is a bit much... the mushrooms chunky and plentiful. Toast. Wonderful. Butter is yum and there is heaps. Sauce also heaps... too much really... which is good if it's yummy but it was not. It seemed to have balsamic in it and the vinegar was overpowering and spoilt the whole dish. Nice try but it seemed like they tried to get fancy to the detriment of the food. This was my day. I would still encourage anyone to try them. Oh! I enjoyed the coffee... Hence the going back for a second visit.
